Tate acquires new works for the national collection at Frieze London and Frieze Masters 2026

The following works have been acquired for Tate’s collection through the Frieze Tate Fund 2026, made possible by Alexander Lewis and Alexander V. Petalas and other generous supporters.
Michaela Yearwood-Dan (b. 1994, London)
Peace Unknown 2026 Glitter, glass beads, paper, ribbon, lustred earthenware and oil on canvas 2200 x 2200 mm (acquired from Hauser & Wirth, Frieze London)

Since Frieze London first launched in 2003, Tate has acquired over 180 works by more than 100 artists at the fair. These works have since been seen by millions of visitors in Tate’s four galleries and have been shared with museums and galleries across the UK and beyond.
Mohammed Z Rahman’s current Art Now exhibition at Tate Britain features two paintings acquired in 2024, while the Gathering Ground display at Tate Modern includes a series of bark paintings by Naminapu Maymuru-White which were also acquired at the fair that year. Other recent Frieze acquisitions currently on display across Tate’s galleries include a collage by Frida Orupabo, five photographs by Tessa Boffin, a film by Tourmaline, a painting by Rita Keegan and a sculpture by Adam Farah-Saad.
Karin Hindsbo, Interim Director, Tate, said: “We are thrilled to once again be acquiring works for the national collection thanks to the generous supporters of this year’s Frieze Tate Fund. The acquisitions will bring these two important artists into Tate’s collection for the first time. The works both represent varied and complex approaches to materiality, evident in the large-scale richly layered surfaces and experimental use of natural and found materials. I look forward to the public being able to enjoy these stunning works in Tate’s galleries and beyond.”
