Japan Is the #1 Destination in the World for Fourth Consecutive Year in Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards

For the fourth consecutive year, Japan has been named the #1 country in the world by the readers of Condé Nast Traveler in the magazine’s 2026 Readers’ Choice Awards.

Additionally, Tokyo (#2) and Kyoto (#10) have been included in the top 10 “Best Big Cities in the World.”

Condé Nast Traveler received more than 798,867 survey responses from readers across the United States to offer a comprehensive look at the places they eagerly anticipate revisiting. As the one of the travel industry’s longest-running and most prestigious accolades, The Readers’ Choice Awards, remain the ultimate symbol and acknowledgment of excellence within the travel sector.
