ScreenShield Requests Open to WPN Players as Americas Cardroom Explains Security Measures

The protection keeps tables visible locally while blocking the capture methods it covers.

San Jose, Costa Rica – WEBWIRE –

Americas Cardroom has explained how WPN players can request ScreenShield following remote-access security concerns. The feature has already been activated for relevant players, and Winning Poker Network has shared implementation information with other poker operators.

The practical effect is limited to how covered external capture technology sees a protected table. Players continue viewing their tables normally on their own monitors. ScreenShield blocks the screen-capture and screen-sharing methods it covers, including capture of table information such as hole cards.

That protection brings a tradeoff for people who legitimately stream or record poker sessions. It can affect those functions, including content creation and review of completed sessions with coaches. ScreenShield does not eliminate every possible cybersecurity threat.

Any WPN player can request ScreenShield at support@winningpokernetwork.com, with activation taking up to 48 hours. Players who stream, record or share their screens can also ask Support to review the settings that fit their needs.

WPN contacted players meeting its detection criteria on September 29 and enabled ScreenShield as a precaution. Remote-access capabilities can be used for work, collaboration and IT support. Their presence alone does not establish cheating or a compromised computer.

A review found no compromise of WPN’s systems, poker software or official downloads. Game Integrity continues reviewing relevant player and account activity. Compensation will depend on findings establishing wrongdoing and harm to WPN players.

Further work includes regular scans and more proactive application when detection criteria are met. A control for switching ScreenShield on or off within the client is in development, rather than already available to players.

ACR Poker also works with GTO Wizard to compare played situations with solver activity. The partners are working toward broader final-table analysis, aiming for every ACR final table to be covered. GTO Wizard’s public Fair Play Check includes preflop ICM solutions and timestamps.

WPN has sent other operators guidance on how this type of protection can be developed for evaluation. Phil Nagy explained the rationale: “Because player security is bigger than competition.”
