UNOOSA and Nebex explore pathways to widen access to the space economy for emerging space nations

The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs and Nebex are exploring how commercial exchange infrastructure can support the Access to Space for All initiative.

New York – WEBWIRE –

[New York, 6 October 2026] — The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) and Nebex have exchanged Letters of Intent to explore cooperation aimed at expanding opportunities for developing nations to participate in the space economy through UNOOSA’s Access to Space for All programme.

The Letters set out a shared commitment to explore how standardized commercial infrastructure can help emerging space nations reach suppliers, financing, and technical capacity. The cooperation is non-exclusive and complements UNOOSA’s existing partnerships and programmes.

Nebex is developing market infrastructure for the global space economy, improving how the sector procures, finances, and collaborates across borders. It aims to make it easier for participants who have long operated outside established supply chains in the space sector to connect with suppliers, financing and commercial opportunities across borders.

Under the Letters of Intent, the two organisations will explore how commercial platforms and networks could help link emerging space nations to suppliers and capital. This supports UNOOSA’s mandate to bring the benefits of space to every country.

“For many emerging space nations, the ambition is there but the pathway is not. Universally accessible market infrastructure changes that. It lets a country move from intention to real participation in the space economy,” said Tejpaul Bhatia, Chief Executive Officer of Nebex.

“Access to Space for All exists to open opportunities for more countries to participate in and benefit from space activities. Cooperation with partners such as Nebex helps us explore new pathways for developing nations to build lasting capacity,” said Aarti Holla-Maini, Director of UNOOSA.

The Access to Space for All initiative provides developing countries with opportunities to access space through hardware, capacity building and hands-on programmes . Through this cooperation, UNOOSA brings its experience supporting countries to build space capabilities, while Nebex contributes access to commercial networks and infrastructure.
