The Sesame Street Neighborhood Is Getting Even Bigger

For over 55 years, Sesame Street has been a beloved staple of children’s storytelling, sparking curiosity, fueling imaginations, and helping children everywhere learn and grow. Today, Netflix and Sesame Workshop announced a new chapter in their collaboration, bringing families around the world more of what they love from the iconic neighborhood — including brand new episodes of the show alongside a Sesame Street feature, now in development, officially sending Elmo, Cookie Monster, and the whole neighborhood on their biggest adventure yet.

In a competitive bidding situation, Netflix has secured the feature film rights to Sesame Street, and the film is currently in development, with Rideback and Sesame Workshop set to produce.

On the series side, the deal between Netflix and Sesame Workshop has been extended to keep delivering new seasons of the show through Season 62.

While fans wait, they can enjoy all new episodes with Season 57 Volume 4 releasing on November 23, 2026 and Volumes 5 and 6 coming in 2027. These new episodes of the iconic series will be available day-and-date in the U.S. on PBS stations, and streaming on PBS KIDS digital platforms, bringing critical early learning to children throughout the U.S. for free. Sesame Workshop is the global nonprofit behind Sesame Street, with Sal Perez serving as executive producer.

• Netflix is continuing its commitment for new seasons of Sesame Street to be available day-and-date on PBS KIDS in support of Sesame Workshop’s 55+ year legacy of using the power of public television to bring critical early learning to children across the U.S. for free.
  
  
• Kids can now interact with their favorite Sesame Street characters on the Netflix Playground game app, bringing the entire Sesame ecosystem to Netflix across various formats: films, series, and games.
  
  
• Netflix has also licensed the CGI animated series, Mecha Builders, featuring Elmo, Cookie Monster, and Abby as robot heroes-in-training using their STEM superpowers to solve wacky, larger-than-life problems. The show will be available on Netflix October 26, 2026. ·
• These titles will join other titles in the official Sesame Street collection featuring more than 100 beloved episodes and specials from the library alongside the latest Season 56 episodes, giving families even more ways to enjoy their favorite friends from Sesame Street.
  
  
• Kids and Family viewing represents 15% of Netflix’s total viewing. Whether it’s connecting with voices like Sesame Street, Ms. Rachel and Mark Rober’s CrunchLabs, following heartfelt adventures in Trash Truck and The Creature Cases, igniting imagination with stories like Swapped, Leo and Gabby’s Dollhouse, building problem-solving skills with StoryBots and the upcoming SCHOOLED!, or getting up and moving with Danny Go!, we’ve built a space where kids can watch, play, and learn.
  
  
• Netflix is creating a space parents can feel good about, putting them in the driver’s seat with dedicated safeguards and robust parental controls. Parents can curate viewing to fit their family’s needs with individual kids profiles featuring age-appropriate content, customizable maturity settings, title-level blocking, profile lock PINs to keep grown-up profiles for grown-ups, viewing history and activity tools, and the option to disable features like autoplay at any time.
