Accor, a global leader in hospitality, announces the transition of SO/ Berlin Das Stue to Sofitel Berlin Das Stue, further strengthening Sofitel’s presence in Germany and reinforcing the brand’s growth in Europe’s leading cultural capitals. Scheduled to officially join the Sofitel network in Q1 2027, the iconic 78-room hotel will combine its distinctive heritage and celebrated design with Sofitel’s signature French zest and heartfelt luxury.

Located on the edge of Berlin’s Tiergarten and overlooking the Zoological Garden, Sofitel Berlin Das Stue will bring a distinctive sense of place to one of the city’s most renowned boutique luxury addresses. Housed within a heritage-protected 1930s neoclassical building that originally served as the Royal Danish Embassy, the hotel has become synonymous with refined contemporary design and heartfelt luxury. The property has retained its Danish identity, reflected in its name, “Das Stue”, meaning “living room”, a tribute to the building’s diplomatic origins.

The transition marks an important milestone in Sofitel’s European development strategy, adding a highly distinctive luxury property to the brand’s growing collection of landmark hotels in key gateway cities.

The hotel’s transformation into a luxury retreat was originally envisioned by Axthelm Rolvien Architekten and internationally acclaimed designer Patricia Urquiola. As part of the transition to Sofitel, the property will undergo a carefully curated enhancement program designed to align the hotel with Sofitel standards while preserving its distinctive character and acclaimed design language. Planned improvements include guestroom upgrades, enhanced bedding and soft furnishings, refreshed public spaces, updated signage, corridor refurbishments and a reimagined lobby experience featuring new artistic and decorative elements
