Rakuten Enters Global Partnership with Scuderia Ferrari HP
Rakuten named Team Partner in Telecommunications and E-Commerce, starting in 2027
Rakuten Group, Inc. announced a multi-year global partnership agreement, effective January 1, 2027, under which Rakuten will become a Team Partner of Scuderia Ferrari HP in the categories of Telecommunications and E-commerce. This marks the first time a Japanese company joins the world-renowned motorsports team in these categories.
The partnership brings together two globally recognized brands with shared values centered on innovation, technology and excellence. By combining Scuderia Ferrari HP’s global reach and sporting heritage with Rakuten’s global technology network and extensive ecosystem, the collaboration will create new opportunities for innovation while driving business engagement with Rakuten’s partners.
Extending beyond the racetrack, the partnership will explore new opportunities for the Rakuten Ecosystem, including e-commerce and Rakuten Symphony, a global leader in open network solutions for telecom and enterprise customers, to expand its global footprint, leveraging the international platform of Formula 1 to foster new business connections, showcase its technology capabilities on and off the track, and explore opportunities for cross-industry innovation. Additionally, as part of the agreement, Rakuten branding will feature prominently across Scuderia Ferrari HP’s race cars, driver apparel, team environment and more.
“Motorsport at the highest level is defined by a relentless pursuit of excellence, in technological innovation and creating unique connections with fans — a commitment we share with Scuderia Ferrari HP,” said Mickey Mikitani, Chairman and CEO of Rakuten Group. “This partnership provides a dynamic global stage to bring Rakuten’s technology capabilities, digital ecosystem and unique membership experiences directly to millions of passionate Ferrari and Formula 1 fans around the world.”
“Welcoming Rakuten to Scuderia Ferrari HP is an opportunity to bring together two brands with a strong global presence and a shared belief in the power of innovation,” added Lorenzo Giorgetti, Chief Racing Revenue Officer of Ferrari. “Rakuten has built an exceptional digital ecosystem and brings technological capabilities that can open up new ways for us to create value beyond the racetrack. We look forward to working together from 2027 and exploring the opportunities that this partnership can create for both our organizations and our communities worldwide.”
