Cristian “Kily” González Ready to Take the Helm at Inter Miami CF

Cristian “Kily” González arrived in South Florida today and is set to officially take charge of Inter Miami CF. After completing the necessary work documentation, the Argentine manager will assume his responsibilities as the Club’s First Team head coach, with a contract running through June 2028.

With Inter Miami gearing up to face Mexican side CD Cruz Azul in the Campeones Cup on Wednesday night, González will conduct his first training session this morning as the team begins preparations for the upcoming trophy clash.

The match will mark González’s first opportunity to lead Inter Miami from the sidelines as the Club looks to compete for another piece of silverware.

The Argentine began his coaching career with the reserve team of CA Rosario Central. After two seasons, he was promoted to lead the club’s first team, managing 68 matches across three seasons from 2020 through 2022.

González then took charge of CA Unión Santa Fe, where he managed 78 matches across three campaigns from 2023 through 2025. Most recently, he served as head coach of CA Platense during the 2025 season.

Before beginning his coaching career, González enjoyed a distinguished playing career spanning Argentina and Europe, winning major honors across some of the world’s most competitive leagues.

A former midfielder, González began his playing career in the youth ranks of Rosario Central before making his professional debut with the club in 1993. Following a spell with CA Boca Juniors, he made the move to Europe in 1996, joining Spanish side Real Zaragoza.

González went on to represent CF Valencia and Inter Milan, enjoying successful spells with both clubs and adding several major trophies to his cabinet. With Valencia, he won the Spanish Super Cup during the 1999-00 season, while his time in Italy saw him lift two consecutive Coppa Italia titles with Inter during the 2004-05 and 2005-06 campaigns, as well as the 2005-06 Serie A title.

At the international level, González registered 56 caps with Argentina and was part of the squad that won the gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens.
