Barclays continues strategic investment in Equity Capital Markets team

Barclays announced that Richard Duffield and Jonathan Armstrong joined the bank as Managing Directors based in New York in the Equity Capital Markets (ECM) group. Richard joins as the Global Head of Equity Linked Origination and Jonathan has been named Head of ECM Derivatives for the Americas.

Richard will lead the equity-linked origination business across sectors and geographies, leaning on his experience leading some of the market’s largest convertible bond issuances and related derivatives globally in TMT, Industrials, and Healthcare. Jonathan will focus on equity derivatives and financing products for issuers and major shareholders, leading coverage for many of the largest derivatives clients.

Richard has more than two decades of experience in the equity linked market and joins Barclays from Royal Bank of Canada. He began his career at Bear Stearns, followed by more than 17 years at Citi, where he led the bank’s convertible origination efforts.

Jonathan brings more than 19 years of experience to Barclays and joins the bank from Goldman Sachs, where he was named Managing Director in 2017 and led US Origination and Structuring of Corporate Equity Derivatives, Equity Financings, and other structured transactions.
