Amazon Invests $163,000 in Frederick County Through 17 Community Grants

Amazon announced $163,000 in grants to 17 Frederick County nonprofits and community organizations through its Frederick County Community Fund. The company revealed the awards yesterday, September 10 ^th, at Cultivating Community, which brought together community partners, leaders, and local changemakers helping Frederick County grow and thrive.

“We’re proud to be putting down roots in Frederick County — a place where I spent a lot of my childhood, and one that’s stayed close to my heart ever since,” said Josh Weissman, Amazon’s vice president of data center delivery. “The grants we announced tonight go right where they’re needed: a food pantry, a diaper bank, STEM labs in two elementary schools, trades training for teenagers, and more organizations doing work like it. I’m proud of the partners doing this work, and proud that Amazon gets to invest in it. This is what being a good neighbor looks like to us.”

This year’s Frederick County Community Fund recipients are:

• Reforge United, $10,000, for its year-round food pantry and Thanksgiving Blessing Boxes
• Farm to School Frederick, $10,000, for Share Table STEM Labs at two elementary schools
• US Construction Industry Foundation, $10,000, for Kids in Construction, a K-5 trades exposure program
• Coalition for a Healthier Frederick County, $10,000, to expand SNAP access at rural farmers markets
• Blessed Provisions Inc., $10,000, for a mobile diaper bank serving underserved families
• United Way of Frederick County, $10,000, for a graphing calculator lending library for ALICE students
• Asian American Center of Frederick, $10,000, for seed grants for home childcare businesses tailored for immigrant/refugee women
• Blue Collar Project Inc., $10,000, for youth hands-on trade seminars in welding and electrical work
• Urbana STEMM, $10,000, for its BioTools and NeuroMaker STEMM Pathway
• Literacy Council of Frederick County, $10,000, for workforce literacy and ESL instruction for adults
• Family Connects – Frederick County, $10,000, for safety gear, including pack-n-plays, car seats, and strollers, for newborns
• City Youth Matrix, $10,000, for year-round hands-on STEM programming for ALICE youth
• Centro Hispano de Frederick, $10,000, for its Éxito STEAM Career Explorers program for Latino middle schoolers
• Tech Frederick, $8,000, for a career discovery day for 100 Frederick County Public School high schoolers
• Drew Primo / Primo3D, $5,000, for a restaurant plastics-to-filament recycling pilot
• Housing Frederick, $10,000, for financial empowerment workshops
• The Frederick Center, $10,000, to expand LGBTQ+ peer support with a clinical LCSW

Amazon’s presence in the community continues at the Great Frederick Fair, September 18–26, where the company will host a 40-by-60-foot tent bursting with hands-on STEM activities — a chance for local kids and families to get curious, get creative, and see science come to life.

These investments reflect Amazon’s deepening commitment to Frederick County as part of its data center operations in the county, which is creating competitively paying local jobs and anchoring a long-term partnership with the region.
