Arup named Company of the Year recognising its leadership in Singapore’s built environment

Arup has clinched the Company of the Year (Large Firm) award at the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) Awards 2026. The award recognises firms that are leading the way in transforming Singapore’s built environment sector with successful business and workforce transformation initiatives throughout their operations.

For Arup, the award is testament to a distinctive culture, shaped by values that bring together design and engineering ambition together with social purpose. Its teams work across climate adaptation, sustainable mobility, regenerative cities and resilient infrastructure, giving employee members the opportunity to see the impact of their expertise on Singapore’s urban fabric and governance, and long-term development.

Arup continues to explore new frontiers in digital innovation, developing in-house AI agents and applying emerging technologies to help its teams address complex, built environment challenges, from strengthening urban resilience to supporting lower-carbon design.

One example is UHeat, Arup’s digital tool for assessing the urban heat island effect in Singapore. Using satellite imagery and climate data, it helps identify buildings and areas experiencing higher temperatures, enabling planners, designers and engineers to consider targeted interventions such as nature-based solutions and changes to land use. The tool has been applied in cities across Southeast Asia supporting more informed decisions on urban resilience and liveability.

Arup is also using AI-enabled tools to inform lower-carbon design decisions. Through its generative design platform, Arup InForm, teams can compare the carbon and performance implications of different structural and building forms early in the design process. Arup uses this platform in Singapore to identify solutions that balance carbon reduction with wider project requirements.

The recognition also reflects Arup’s continued investment in its people. Arup’s contribution to Singapore’s built environment was also recognised through the BCA Project of the Year award for Subsea Water Pipeline Tunnel Connecting Tuas and Jurong Island in the Infrastructure category. Arup provided civil, water, mechanical and electrical engineering services to Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co (Singapore) Pte Ltd for the 1.6-kilometre subsea water pipeline tunnel and two associated shafts. More than 95 per cent of the alignment runs beneath the seabed, including sections below existing gas transmission pipelines. Arup developed operating parameters for the tunnelling works to support safe and productive construction while protecting surrounding infrastructure.

Outram Secondary School Sengkang Campus was awarded Project of the Year 2026 in the Institutional category, with Arup providing acoustic consultancy services for Singapore’s first zero-energy school.
