Danso: ‘The sky is the limit’
Kevin Danso is relishing the opportunity to begin his Sunderland journey after completing a season-long loan move from Tottenham Hotspur.
The 27-year-old centre-back arrives on Wearside with a wealth of domestic and European experience, having made 128 appearances for RC Lens and 52 for Spurs.
An Austria international, Danso also featured in all four of his country’s matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and has earned 36 caps.
Now, the defender is looking forward to getting started in red and white and experiencing the atmosphere at the Stadium of Light.
“It feels amazing to be here and I can’t wait to get started,” Danso said.
“Growing up in England, Sunderland has a rich Premier League history and I’m so excited to be a part of that journey.
“I hope I can bring my experience to the group and help the lads both on and off the pitch.
“First and foremost, I’d describe myself as a warrior. I’m someone who gives everything for the team and I want to bring that mentality here.
“I know we have European football this season, and anything is possible. The sky is the limit, and we want to see how far we can go.”
Danso is also relishing the prospect of linking up with a number of his new team-mates, having already faced several of the Sunderland squad during his career.
“I’ve played against a number of the squad in different countries and in the Premier League, and I’m looking forward to meeting them,” he added.
“I know Florent well from our time together at Lens, so that was an important factor in my decision to come here.
“Now I’m just excited to meet everyone, get settled and start working with the team.”
