Celine Dion’s return to the stage contributes to an 11% surge in flight searches to Paris

As Celine Dion prepares to perform her first full concerts in more than six years, international flight searches to Paris are up 11% compared to the same period last year, and flight bookings are up 5%, according to new Amadeus Travel Intelligence data pulled on 12th August.[1]

Dion announced her 16-date Paris residency from September 12 to October 17 on her 58th birthday, and fans across the globe are booking flights to see her perform.

America is leading the rankings for origin countries in terms of both search and booking traffic.

More than a quarter of international search demand (26.5%) is from the United States (U.S.), followed by Brazil (11%) and Dion’s home country of Canada (7.4%). Taken together, these countries represent nearly 45% of global search traffic growth to Paris during Dion’s fall residency.

Similarly, nearly 40% of travel bookings during this time come from the Americas. The U.S. accounts for 26.85% of travel bookings, followed by Brazil (5.5%), Canada (4.4%) and Mexico (2.4%). Mexico and Brazil stand out as two of the top ten fastest-growing international booking markets to Paris, representing a 38% growth and 30% growth respectively compared to the same time last year. This reflects a trend identified in Amadeus 2026 Travel Trends report: live music and major cultural moments are seemingly contributing to increasingly driving travel growth.

Although Japan was the only APAC country to appear in the top ten origin countries for search demand, representing only 2.4% of searches, the APAC region proves to be one of the fastest growing travel regions, with some of the most committed travelers.

Within APAC, Japan is the second-largest booking market (6.6%) to Paris during Dion’s fall residency, with Australia (5.1%), South Korea (4.5%), and India (2.19%) all ranking in the top ten international travel origin countries. Taken together, these four countries in the APAC region represent 18.4% of travelers headed to Paris during Dion’s tour dates.

Thailand stands out as the fastest-growing international booking market by far, with an astounding 200% growth in bookings compared to the same time last year. Bookings from Japan and India experienced a 40% and 13% growth respectively. These figures reflect the continued uplift in travel demand from Asia also depicted in Amadeus’ Travel Trends report.

Of the top ten international origin countries, European travelers from Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom (U.K.), Portugal and Poland account for more than a quarter (26.5%) of all travel searches during Dion’s fall residency dates. Eastern and Southern European countries also feature prominently in the top ten fastest-growing international markets in flight search inquiries, with Greece (+116%), Romania (+69%), Spain (+66%), Poland (+59%), Portugal (+53%) and Italy (+19%) all posting notable year-on-year growth in search traffic.

However, flight booking data reveals that unlike in the APAC region, many of these searches don’t convert to bookings. Of the top ten international origin countries booking flights during Dion’s fall residency in Paris, travelers from Europe represent a little more than 5% of booking share, with most coming from Spain (2.8%) or Italy (2.4%).

Among the fastest-growing international booking origin countries, Norway (+40%), Poland (+22%), the United Kingdom (+14%) and Denmark (+12%) all appear amongst the top ten, with year-on-year growth in the double digits.

Domestically in France, eight of the top ten booking origin cities during Dion’s fall dates are in Southern France, and account for nearly 79% of bookings. Toulouse (30.3%), Nice (14%) and Ajaccio (7.4%) are the top three domestic origins for air travel during this time.

To find the true Celine fans, the year-on-year growth of air bookings may be a more telling metric, since these figures capture travel that is more likely to be happening because of the residency. By this measure, a few cities stand out: air bookings to Paris from Bastia and Ajaccio, two Corsican cities, show a 55% and 35% year-on-year growth respectively during Dion’s residency. The southern towns of Biarritz (26%) and Montpellier (16%) and Pau (10%) also reflect strong year-on-year air booking growth in the double digits.

Fans from other regions of France may be traveling to Paris by rail or car instead, meaning the true scale of domestic interest in the residency is likely broader than air booking data alone can show.

Hotel data in Paris from Demand360® pulled on 3rd August [2] also gives interesting insight into how travelers are planning their trips. Although short stays of 1 to 5 nights still account for 47.45% of hotel bookings, medium-length stays of 6 to 13 nights (which account for 41.42% of hotel bookings) are 6% higher compared to the same period last year. The concerts could be one of the factors driving these longer visitor stays, as travelers may be building the concert into a longer holiday itinerary rather than a quick trip.

Hotel revenue per available room (RevPAR) in Paris during the residency period is also up 13% year-over-year, reaching $211.

Celine is just one the many cultural icons—like Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and Bad Bunny—that is moving people to craft unique journeys to experience their music firsthand. It’s part of a broader “Culture Tripping” trend that is drawing fans of books, movies, TV shows and music to plan trips. From Harry Potter fans touring Warner Brothers Studios in London, to K-pop Demon Hunters fans taking k-pop classes in Seoul, it seems that today’s big cultural moments are shaping tomorrow’s travel plans.
