Stellantis Launches Project Green Light Partnership at Detroit Facilities as School Year Begins

As students return to classrooms across Detroit this week, Stellantis helps strengthen safety in the communities surrounding its facilities through a partnership with the Detroit Police Department and Project Green Light Detroit, becoming the first automotive company to join the citywide public safety initiative.

Project Green Light Detroit launched in 2016 as a partnership among the Detroit Police Department, the city of Detroit, local businesses and community organizations. More than 550 participating locations use high-definition security cameras, improved lighting and visible signage to support real-time monitoring and public safety efforts.

As part of the project, Stellantis installed 55 high-definition exterior cameras and more than 100 green beacon lights around the perimeter of Detroit Assembly Complex – Jefferson and supporting shipping yards, connecting the facility to Project Green Light’s real-time monitoring network. The technology enhances visibility and provides law enforcement with additional tools to help respond faster to incidents and support community safety efforts. The company plans to expand the partnership to the Detroit Assembly Complex – Mack in the fourth quarter.

With several public schools located near our facilities, we’re incredibly proud to get these lights turned on as students head back to school. It’s another example of our commitment to being a good community partner in Detroit.”

Detroit Assembly Complex, including the Jefferson and Mack assembly plants and supporting shipping yards, spans 749 acres or approximately 567 football fields. The complex produces the Jeep® Grand Cherokee, Jeep Grand Cherokee L and Dodge Durango. More than 8,000 employees, contractors and visitors pass through Stellantis’ Detroit facilities every day.
