Chelsea learn potential Carabao Cup third round opponents
Should we progress past Luton Town in the Carabao Cup tomorrow, we will play at Stamford Bridge in the third round of the competition.
The draw was made after Everton’s victory at Preston North End and it handed Xabi Alonso’s side a potential tie against Leeds United, who defeated Nottingham Forest in the second round.
It would be our third League Cup tie against Leeds, following victories in 1970, 2001 and, most memorably, 2012, when we won 5-1 at Elland Road.
Third-round ties will be split across two midweek slots to accommodate European fixture commitments, with games played on the weeks beginning 7 September and 14 September.
Should we beat Luton, fixture and ticket details will follow in due course.
