Novagard Introduces Two New Air & Water Barrier Products, Expanding Its Building Envelope Portfolio

Novagard, a leading manufacturer of high-performance silicone sealants and coatings, has launched its NovaBarrier product line, including the NovaBarrier AWB1000 Air & Water Barrier and NovaBarrier LF1000 Liquid Applied Flashing.

The new product line is a strategic step in Novagard’s continued growth in building envelope solutions, bringing its expertise in advanced material science to applications focused on energy efficiency, durability, and moisture management. Manufactured in the United States, the NovaBarrier system reflects Novagard’s commitment to quality, performance, and supply chain reliability.

The NovaBarrier system is designed to create a seamless, vapor-permeable barrier that protects building structures from unwanted air and water infiltration while allowing substrates to breathe and dry. The liquid-applied NovaBarrier system creates a continuous membrane that reduces installation variability and helps eliminate common failure points.

NovaBarrier AWB1000 is a single-component, liquid-applied air and water barrier that forms a flexible membrane with strong adhesion to common substrates, without the need for primers. It is engineered for challenging job site conditions, including application to damp surfaces and exposure to weather during construction. By blocking uncontrolled air leakage, it improves energy efficiency and reduces drafts and thermal loss.

NovaBarrier LF1000 Liquid Applied Flashing provides a versatile solution for detailing and transitions, delivering immediate waterproofing, strong adhesion, and long-term durability. The product is designed to streamline installation while maintaining compatibility with a wide range of building materials. LF1000 forms a seamless permeable barrier that prevents penetration of unwanted water and air through the structure while allowing vapor to move, helping to dry surfaces more efficiently and alleviate mold, wood decay, and corrosion. It remains permanently flexible to accommodate building movement and thermal expansion.

Together, the NovaBarrier system delivers seamless protection against air and water infiltration while remaining vapor permeable to support long-term building performance. Its primerless adhesion to most common substrates, even when damp, allows for greater flexibility in application, while its immediate waterproofing and resistance to jobsite weather exposure help keep projects on schedule. By reducing installation steps, the system also improves efficiency during construction.

NovaBarrier AWB1000 Air & Water Barrier meets key industry standards, including AAMA 714-19, ASTM E2357 for air barrier assembly performance, and ASTM E84 Class A for fire performance. NovaBarrier LF1000 Liquid Applied Flashing meets AAMA 714-19 and ASTM E84 Class A requirements. As a member of the Air Barrier Association of America (ABAA), Novagard supports best practices and performance standards across the building envelope industry.
