Scholastic Donates 1,600+ Books to Expand Community Reading in the Bronx

A recent Scholastic donation of more than 1,600 books to the nonprofit Books x Bodegas was featured in both The Riverdale Press and Bronx Mama, underscoring how the contribution will expand access to free, high‑quality books for children and families across New York City.

Books x Bodegas aims to bring books into everyday community spaces to increase their accessibility and visibility, helping to build a culture of reading in the Bronx. The recent coverage highlights the growing reach of Books x Bodegas’ community‑based literacy model.

“Scholastic has a strong belief that community-focused nonprofit partners play an important role in our shared mission of ensuring every child has access to books and opportunities to develop a lifelong love of reading,” Scholastic told The Riverdale Press.

The donation included kid-favorite titles such as Esperanza Rising, Dog Man and The 39 Clues.
