Channel 4 has commissioned a brand-new series celebrating the landscapes, people and culture of Scotland’s unsung coastline for a new More4 series.

Scotland’s Golden Coast, a new lifestyle series produced by Firecrest Films, captures the country’s east coast, from the Moray Firth down to Eyemouth by the English Border, regions renowned for their stunning scenery, rich heritage and proud local communities.

Filmed during Scotland’s busy summer season, the series follows people who live and work along this remarkable coastline as they welcome visitors from near and far, balancing thriving local businesses with the responsibility of preserving the history, character and natural beauty of the places they are proud to call home.

From the ancient woodlands and shifting dune forests of Tentsmuir, where the North Sea continues to add to the shoreline, to the puffin colonies of the Isle of May National Nature Reserve and the dolphin-rich waters of the Moray Firth, cameras will capture the landscapes and wildlife that make this golden coast such a treasure.

Those who live, work and holiday here showcase what makes it so unique, from the world’s only beach cricket club, to costal rowing, cliff jumping, and vibrant festivals. Scotlands sunniest corner produces a formidable larder of some of the country’s finest food, and an incredible setting in which to enjoy it. It’s a place of heritage, with steam trains, lighthouses, lidos and centuries old traditions, alongside modern entrepreneurialism – costal saunas, campervan tourism and kayak tours.

Rich in character, culture and coastal charm, this More4 series follows the tastemakers, entrepreneurs, artists, and fishermen who make Scotland’s east coast so special.

Channel 4’s Deborah Dunnett said: “As a proud Scot, I am delighted for viewers to discover Scotland’s Golden Coast, celebrating the landscapes, people, and culture of one of Scotland’s most beautiful and vibrant regions. While we’ve named it for its sandy beaches, the series reveals so much more for viewers to see through the eyes of the lucky souls who call these places home.”

Executive Producer at Firecrest, Nicole Kleeman said, “What an absolute delight to make this stunning series on our doorstep. This is a glorious side of Scotland, which makes for utterly joyful TV.”

Scotland’s Golden Coast (10x60’) is commissioned for Channel 4 by Deborah Dunnett, Commissioning Editor, Lifestyle, with Jo Street, Director of Commissioning, Nations & Regions & Head of Lifestyle. The Series Producer is Jane Handa, Production Manager Clare Fraser, and Executive Producer Nicole Kleeman. This series is being distributed by Orange Smarty.
