ACCIONA Energía opens one of Spain’s largest public electric vehicle charging stations in Badajoz
- The site features 42 charging bays and 2,000kW of contracted power, ensuring high charging capacity even during periods of peak demand.
ACCIONA Energía and Castellana Properties have opened a new public electric vehicle charging station at El Faro shopping centre in Badajoz, one of the largest publicly accessible charging facilities in Spain. The site features 42 charging bays and 2,000kW of contracted power, ensuring high charging capacity even during periods of peak demand.
The installation has been designed to provide a fast, convenient and flexible charging service tailored to different user needs. It includes four 240kW ultra-fast chargers serving eight charging bays, allowing charging times of less than 15 minutes where vehicle capabilities allow; ten 80kW fast chargers serving 20 bays, with typical charging times of between 30 and 60 minutes; and seven 22kW chargers serving 14 bays, designed for longer stays with estimated charging times of between two and four hours.
Users can manage their charging sessions through the ACCIONA Recarga app, which provides access to exclusive promotions and benefits. The station also supports ad hoc charging without prior registration, allowing users to start a charging session from their mobile phone or pay directly by bank card, making the infrastructure accessible to all electric vehicle drivers.
The station is equipped with charging technology supplied by Circutor, a leading manufacturer of electric vehicle charging solutions recognised for the reliability and quality of its equipment.
This new facility expands the range of services available to visitors to El Faro, helping it to continue to evolve as a space that meets the everyday needs of its local community. As the owner of the shopping center, Castellana Properties is also taking another step forward in its commitment to sustainability. In recent years, the company has made significant progress in reducing its carbon footprint through the continuous improvement of energy efficiency and the deployment of self-consumption solutions. It also continues to promote new initiatives aimed at decarbonisation and sustainable mobility.
The installation also strengthens ACCIONA Energía credentials as a key player in the electrification of urban transport and in the development of infrastructure that combines technological innovation, environmental sustainability, and social value, anticipating the city model of the future. The company provides access to more than 5,000 charging points in urban areas and along the main intercity corridors across Spain and Portugal.
