Hydrogen Pitstop offers hands-on hydrogen experiences for the whole family during Rally Week in Jyväskylä

Central Finland Mobility Foundation (Cefmof) will organise the Hydrogen Pitstop public event at Satamapuisto in Lutakko, Jyväskylä, from 30 July to 1 August 2026 during Rally Week. Free and open to everyone, the event offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy food prepared using hydrogen, drive hydrogen-powered RC cars, view the world’s first hydrogen-powered sauna, and learn how hydrogen is produced, stored and used in everyday applications. This year, hydrogen will also be produced on site, allowing visitors to explore the entire hydrogen lifecycle, from production and storage to end use.

This year, Hydrogen Pitstop will be located entirely in one place at Satamapuisto in Lutakko, right next to the Rally Service Park. The event area is freely accessible and does not require a rally ticket or wristband. Its central location makes it easy to visit for both Rally Week visitors and residents.

The aim of Hydrogen Pitstop is to make hydrogen easy to understand and approachable for everyone. Over the course of three days, visitors can explore hydrogen through hands-on demonstrations, interactive experiences and engaging activities. They can learn how hydrogen is produced, stored and used while discovering its role in applications ranging from mobility and cooking to leisure activities. Interactive experiences, such as driving hydrogen-powered RC cars or launching hydrogen rockets, make learning about hydrogen fun, engaging and accessible for visitors of all ages.

One of this year’s new features is an on-site hydrogen production point. Visitors can follow how hydrogen is produced and how it moves through storage to different applications. A hydrogen expert will be available at the hydrogen production point throughout the event to explain the production process and answer visitors’ questions.

We want to give people of all ages the opportunity to see, try and discover how versatile hydrogen can be in everyday life. When people can experience the technology firsthand, it becomes much easier to understand and far more engaging. We hope the event inspires new insights and encourages visitors to continue exploring the possibilities of hydrogen,” says Netta Hongisto, Programme Manager, Events and Experiences at Central Finland Mobility Foundation.

(Please note: the hydrogen sauna and hydrogen rocket workshop are open until 4:00 p.m.)
