The evolving geopolitical landscape is making the ability to operate seamlessly across the air, land, sea, space and cyber domains increasingly critical to detecting and countering threats, including through the support of Artificial Intelligence. This environment demands rapid adaptation, strengthening industrial excellence while leveraging the expertise developed through international cooperation.

With this vision, Leonardo is taking part in the Farnborough International Airshow, reaffirming its position as a global security player. Building on sustained growth that is accelerating production capacity and strengthening its strategic programmes, the Group is showcasing a portfolio of systems designed to operate across multiple domains. This role is further reinforced by Leonardo’s well-established industrial presence in the United Kingdom, where the Company employs nearly 10,000 people and benefits from a significant domestic supply chain.

At the Airshow, the Group is presenting a broad portfolio of products and solutions designed to address the full spectrum of operational scenarios, increasingly characterised by hybrid threats. Leonardo’s objective is to deliver not only individual platforms but integrated capabilities that enable the collection, sharing and exploitation of data to support rapid and effective decision-making in the most complex operational environments. Through integration and interoperability, Leonardo addresses the challenges of modern defence by connecting platforms, sensors, systems and operational capabilities within sovereign architectures, while remaining open to partnerships that create the critical mass required to deliver quality, responsiveness and competitiveness.

Among the key capabilities showcased at the Airshow are crewed and uncrewed aircraft and helicopters, Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-UAS), advanced sensors, cybersecurity solutions, space technologies, and command and control capabilities that are essential for coordinating network-enabled operations and so-called tactical bubbles.

In the air domain, Leonardo presents one of the industry’s most comprehensive portfolios, encompassing both proven operational programmes and systems that will shape the next generation of air defence. From the Eurofighter Typhoon and the next-generation Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP) to the M-346 Block 20 and M-345 trainers, from the AW149 multi-role helicopter to the Proteus fully autonomous helicopter demonstrator, and through its partnership with Turkish aerospace company Baykar via the LBA Systems joint venture, Leonardo integrates crewed and uncrewed platforms alongside new Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) solutions within a fully integrated operational ecosystem.

In the land domain, Leonardo is strengthening its industrial footprint through the Leonardo Rheinmetall Military Vehicles joint venture and the recent acquisition of IDV. The Group’s land portfolio includes armoured vehicles, artillery systems, radar systems, helicopters, and command, control and communications systems designed to operate as a single integrated system, ensuring interoperability across platforms and operational capabilities. In the maritime domain, Leonardo contributes to naval superiority through next-generation sensors and Combat Management Systems. The Group’s capabilities combine unmanned systems, embarked helicopters, naval guns and guided munitions, radar, and command and control systems, providing persistent surveillance and operational superiority at sea.

Space represents one of the Group’s key strategic growth areas. Leonardo’s ambition extends to space surveillance and in-orbit services within a fully multi-domain framework. The Group is committed to strengthening European leadership through integrated solutions and new industrial partnerships, while accelerating the development of its proprietary Earth observation constellation. This new infrastructure will enable faster acquisition and distribution of information by leveraging onboard artificial intelligence, in-space data processing and direct satellite-to-satellite communications, supporting both civil and defence applications.

Leonardo’s multi-domain vision is embodied by the “Michelangelo Dome”, an integrated architecture that connects sensors, command and control systems, and effectors within a single ecosystem. The system integrates air and missile defence capabilities into a scalable and unified architecture, enabling coordinated operations across all operational domains and significantly enhancing the effectiveness of responses to evolving threats.
