Wim Wenders at Cinema Ritrovato in Bologna and special screening of the newly restored SUMMER IN THE CITY
SUMMER IN THE CITY, Wim Wenders’ newly restored graduation film from the Munich Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film (HFF) in 1970, was celebrated at a full-house screening at the Cinema Modernisso in Bologna, where Wenders was welcomed as a guest of honour at the “Il Cinema Ritrovato” film festival. In a discussion moderated by festival director Gian Luca Farinelli, he shared memories with the audience of his early experiences as a filmmaker. A prime example of the film culture of the late 1960s and early 1970s, SUMMER IN THE CITY brought together filmmakers who were just starting out at the time and who would later play a decisive role in shaping German cinema: Wim Wenders (director), Robby Müller (cinematographer), Peter Przygodda (editor) and Hanns Zischler in the lead role.
In Bologna, Wim Wenders also introduced one of his all-time favorite films: CLASH BY NIGHT (1952) by Fritz Lang.
