Channel 4 appoints Daniel Bruce as Chief Corporate Affairs Officer
Channel 4 today announced the appointment of Daniel Bruce as Chief Corporate Affairs Officer.
Daniel, who has been Chief Executive of Transparency International UK (TI-UK) since 2019, is a senior executive with more than 20 years’ leadership experience across public policy, civil society, private, media and communication sectors.
In the newly created role, he will provide strategic leadership of functions including Corporate Relations, Policy & Public Affairs and Partnerships & Skills, protecting and enhancing Channel 4’s reputation and guiding policy positions. Daniel and his team will work closely with Jo Street, Director of Commissioning, Nations & Regions and Head of Lifestyle, and teams in the Nations and Regions to deliver coordinated engagement with stakeholders across the country.
At TI-UK, Daniel leads teams of researchers, investigators and public policy specialists whose purpose is to tackle corruption and promote integrity and high standards in public life. He has supported the passage of four pieces of primary legislation in the UK ranging from new economic crime measures to reform of electoral law. During his tenure, he overhauled the communications function to increase earned media impact and steered high impact engagement with governments, regulators and advisory bodies.
Prior to this, Daniel served for nearly six years as Chief Executive of the global media support organisation, Internews. There he launched a worldwide programme providing critical assistance to journalists working in repressive and dangerous regimes; alongside projects to support investigatory work into grand corruption.
Priya Dogra, Channel 4 CEO said: “Daniel’s career - from broadcast journalism to leading organisations tackling corruption and supporting press freedom worldwide - has given him a depth of experience and conviction that is genuinely unique. I am delighted to welcome him to Channel 4 at such an important moment and look forward to working with him as we shape our future.”
Daniel Bruce said: “I’m thrilled to be joining Channel 4 in this exciting new role and during a truly transformational era for public service media. It’s essential the unique social and cultural value of Channel 4 is amplified, celebrated and emboldened in the years ahead. I look forward to working with the Channel 4 team, government, regulators and the full range of stakeholders to ensure this is the case.”
Daniel spent his early career as a broadcast journalist and eventually senior editor, leading regional and network news teams through coverage of the 9/11 terror attacks in the US and the 2003 Iraq war.
He is an Associate of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and the London College of Music and Media.
Daniel will join Channel 4 in October, reporting to CEO Priya Dogra and sitting on Channel 4’s Executive Committee.
