Americas Cardroom’s Chris Moneymaker Returns to the WSOP Main Event Spotlight
Poker legend advances to Day 2 and helps launch Aruba qualification opportunities.
Chris Moneymaker is back on poker’s biggest stage. The Americas Cardroom Pro appeared on the WSOP Countdown Show during Main Event week in Las Vegas before advancing to Day 2 of the 2026 World Series of Poker Main Event.
Joining Jeff Platt, David Williams, and Joe Stapleton, Moneymaker looked back at the 2003 championship run that changed poker history.
His $86 online satellite entry eventually became a $2.5 million Main Event title after he outlasted a 839-player field, inspiring what became known as the Moneymaker Effect.
During the interview, Moneymaker shared stories about his famous bluff against Sammy Farha, the editing of the original televised broadcast, and the surprising need to convince production crews that “Moneymaker” was actually his real last name. He also reflected on how much the World Series of Poker Main Event has grown over the past two decades.
The Poker Hall of Famer is still competing at the highest level today.
After playing Day 1D of the 2026 Main Event, Moneymaker advanced with 39,500 chips, continuing his run while representing Americas Cardroom in Las Vegas.
Fans can also follow his summer through his YouTube vlog series covering his 2026 World Series of Poker experience.
Away from Las Vegas, Americas Cardroom is giving players a chance to earn their own live poker experience through the upcoming Moneymaker Poker Tour stop in Aruba.
The September series features a $400,000 guaranteed Main Event. Americas Cardroom is guaranteeing 20 Aruba prize packages worth $5,000 each, with players able to qualify through $95 Beast Tournaments on July 12 and July 19 at 5:05 p.m. ET.
The first 10 prize packages are guaranteed during the July 12 event.
