Pirelli relies exclusively on the 2026 standard range tyres for Donington

The softest rear solutions are selected for the eighth round of the FIM Superbike World Championship, at a circuit where weather conditions can play a crucial role

· Softest rear range solutions. Taking place this weekend at Donington Park, the UK Round of the FIM Superbike World Championship marks the conclusion of the first part of the season before the traditional summer break. For the occasion, Pirelli will provide WorldSBK riders with the softest rear solutions from the 2026 standard range, representing a further step forward in development compared with last year, when riders had access exclusively to tyres from the previous standard range.

· Extrasoft for qualifying and the Superpole Race. On a circuit featuring significant elevation changes and a layout that combines a fast-opening section with a sequence of long, high-speed corners and a slower final sector with just one particularly demanding heavy braking zone, the benchmark rear option for qualifying and, potentially, also for the Superpole Race will be the SCQ extrasoft compound. It is the softest solution in the entire Pirelli range and was already highly appreciated by riders at the Emilia-Romagna Round for its outstanding performance both over a single flying lap and across the Superpole Race distance. The rear allocation is completed by the SCX supersoft and SC0 soft compounds, while at the front riders will have the standard SC1 soft and SC2 medium solutions available. Last year, the vast majority of the grid, including race winner Toprak Razgatlıoğlu, who claimed victory in all three races, opted for the softer front option.

· Unpredictable weather. Weather conditions have traditionally been one of the main variables of the British round, where low temperatures—particularly during the early morning sessions—and the possibility of rain can significantly affect the work of riders and teams. In these scenarios, the Pirelli range has repeatedly demonstrated outstanding versatility, delivering effective and consistent performance across a wide range of air and track temperatures, ensuring a high level of grip and performance in both cooler and hotter conditions. Should wet weather occur, the allocation is completed with DIABLO™ Wet intermediate tyres and DIABLO™ Rain tyres for both front and rear.

· The other classes. For the WorldSSP riders, the rear allocation remains unchanged with the SCX supersoft and SC0 soft standard solutions, while the front options are the soft SC1 and medium SC2 compounds. Also racing this weekend are the riders of the WorldWCR, together with the rising talents of the Yamaha R3 World Cup, both championships using Pirelli DIABLO™ Superbike SC1 tyres on both front and rear.

Donington Park is a circuit where stability and grip make all the difference

“Donington Park is a very distinctive circuit and, in many respects, a unique venue on the FIM Superbike World Championship calendar. The opening part of the lap features a series of fast, flowing corners taken at high speed and rapid changes of direction that require riders to manage significant power while the bike is still heavily leaned over. This demands tyres capable of delivering outstanding grip, precision and stability, while maintaining consistent performance over race distance.
Compared with last year, when only standard range solutions were available and no development specifications were included, this season, while confirming the same compounds introduced in 2025, we will provide riders with the complete 2026 standard range. The SCQ extrasoft compound will be the softest option in the allocation and can be used not only in free practice and qualifying but also, potentially, in the Superpole Race. For the longer races, riders will be able to rely on the SCX supersoft and, should temperatures be lower, the SC0 soft compound—solutions that have already demonstrated throughout the season an excellent balance between outright performance and consistency, as reflected by the many new records that have been set.
Finally, the weather, which has historically been unpredictable in the UK, will once again be a key factor. Rain and low temperatures, even in the middle of summer, can have a major influence on tyre management and race strategies. Having a complete and versatile range available will therefore be essential to provide the best possible support in any weather conditions”.
