The New Jeep Compass 4xe, the pinnacle of performance in the Compass line-up, has been assigned the starring role in a mini-series of four episodes dedicated to offroad capability. All episodes will be released by the end of the year. The videos show the all-wheel drive New Compass 4xe tackling the most demanding challenges both offroad and onroad, powered by its 375-hp dual-motor full-electric powertrain.

All the stories revolve around one theme: how can the terrain reveal the quality of a vehicle? Jeep took the Compass 4xe to a variety of locations and on different grounds to put each of the Jeep Selec-Terrain _® driving modes to the test “the hard way.”

No ground off limits: not even the sand dunes of Sardinia
For the first episode, dedicated to Sand & Mud driving, we chose as our shooting location the spectacular sand dunes of Comune di Riola Sardo and Comune di Arbus in Sardinia (Italy), where an area is specifically set up for offroad.

Jeep Compass 4xe: the all-wheel drive capability model
The champion of offroad prowess in the new Jeep Compass line-up, the 4xe version features 10 mm higher ride height for improved ground clearance. This translates into class-leading offroad performance: 28° approach angle, 17° breakover angle, 31° departure angle, up to 480 mm water-fording depth.

The dual motor architecture ensures outstanding traction. The new Jeep Compass 4xe delivers up to 3,100 Nm at the rear wheels thanks to the coupling of the rear motor to a 14:1 reductor. This provides maximum drive in the most challenging situations – and the ability to climb a 20% gradient with zero grip on the front wheels.

The exclusive new Jeep Compass 4xe Selec-Terrain: a specific mode for each driving situation The 4xe Selec-Terrain system keeps the driver in full control everywhere.

The New Jeep Compass 4xe offers five driving modes to face with confidence and intelligence all routes, surfaces, and weather conditions, from everyday to extreme: AUTO, SPORT, SAND & MUD, SNOW and 4x4 LOCK.

When the terrain is soft or crumbly, the SAND/MUD mode maximizes grip by adjusting the steering setup, delivering 100% of available power with overboost, and introducing terrain-specific calibrations for the driving torque and traction control management. This further contributes to Compass 4xe outstanding capability.

Dedicated tuning of all control systems is aimed at maximizing the mechanical grip of the tires and exploiting the huge torque delivered at the wheels by the two electric motors. A closed-loop algorithm precisely controls slip on each axle to deliver the right amount of torque and prevent excessive wheel spin.

Driver comment after the test: “Each axle provides exactly the amount of torque I call for, depending on grip conditions. This is essential when driving on sandy or muddy terrain, as well as on thick gravel.”
