Channel 4.0 expands supplier base with three new digital original pilots
Channel 4 announces three new original pilots for entertainment digital channel Channel 4.0 from GRM, V2L8 and Renaissance Studios, all ethnically diverse-led independent production companies and sees the channel foster new partnerships with more producers in the space.
The new 20-minute-long single episode formats, Who Did Me Dirty?, Gen Wars and Fam or Fan? each stay true to C4.0 form by bringing the same anarchy and famous faces but with more gags, blags and hot takes.
Who Did Me Dirty?, from publisher and production house GRM Daily, sees Harry Pinero and Specs Gonzalez grilled by a lineup of contributors all claiming to have done one of the stars wrong in the past. As stories unfold and the interrogation deepens, the pair must work out which two are telling the truth and who is bluffing. Who Did Me Dirty? is executive produced by Craig Capone & Koby “Posty” Hagan.
From creator and presenter Eman Sv2’s production company V2L8, Gen Wars is a fast-paced generational quiz that pits two teams against each other in a battle of cultural knowledge. Each team is made up of a Gen Z, a millennial and a Gen X, including Specs Gonzalez or Tyrique Hyde as team captains. As contestants decode intergenerational slang and try to act as if they know the pop culture of their team members’ respective decades, our C4.0 stars must win if they don’t want their opponent to post anything on their social media. Gen Wars is executive produced by Eman Sv2 and Sanmi Balogun, producers William Brophy and Director Chris Goodson.
Fam or Fan?, produced by Renaissance Studios, sees Stevo the Madman’s daughter Kaci go head-to-head with one of his biggest fans to determine who knows him best. Every round will reveal who really knows Stevo as he quizzes them on his career, likes and dislikes to prove whether family bonds are stronger than the force of fan culture. It is executive produced by Justin Chinyere with series producer Tamara Barton-Campbell.
All episodes will drop on the entertainment digital channel in June and will be available to watch on YouTube, with cutdowns also on TikTok and Instagram.
Channel 4’s Kaio Grizzelle says: “These pilots reflect the range of independent production companies we’re working with at Channel 4.0, bringing in new voices, new ideas and formats that feel closely connected to how audiences watch, talk about and share content.”
The three singles were ordered by Kaio Grizzelle, Digital Commissioning Editor and Interim Channel 4.0 Commissioning Lead along with Laura Marks, Head of Digital Commissioning.
Watch exclusively on Channel 4.0’s YouTube channel, TikTok and other social media platforms.
