U17 Men’s National Team Announced Ahead of FIBA U17 Men’s World Cup 2026

Canada Basketball has announced the U17 Men’s National Team roster ahead of the FIBA U17 Men’s Basketball World Cup 2026.

The FIBA U17 Men’s Basketball World Cup 2026 is set for June 27 to July 5 in Istanbul, Türkiye and features the best 16 teams in the world. All the action will be streaming live on FIBA’s YouTube channel.

Canada is in Group B with Lithuania (Saturday, June 27 at 5:00 am ET / 2:00 am PT), China (Sunday, June 28 at 11:00 am ET / 8:00 am PT) and Cameroon (Tuesday, June 30 at 7:45 am ET / 4:45 am PT).

All 16 teams participating in the event will advance to the competition’s Final Phase with a single-elimination format in place from the Round of 16 onwards.

The team trained at Humber College in Toronto from June 14–19, before travelling to France for a series of exhibition games ahead of the World Cup.

Canada is looking to improve upon its eighth-place finish at the FIBA U17 Men’s Basketball World Cup 2024. While the program has remained a consistent presence among the world’s top teams, Canada has not recorded a top-five finish at the tournament since 2018. The nation’s best result came in the inaugural edition of the event in 2010, when it captured the bronze medal.

Chris Cheng returns as head coach after leading Canada to a silver medal at the FIBA U16 Men’s AmeriCup 2025.

Canada is currently ranked 10th overall in the FIBA men’s age-group rankings, presented by Nike.
