GEODIS expands partnership with Lagardère Travel Retail by supporting two new international airports

GEODIS, a leading global logistics provider, is expanding its partnership with Lagardère Travel Retail by taking over the logistics operations for new stores located at London Heathrow Airport in the UK and Auckland Airport in New Zealand.

Further to GEODIS’ service of Parisian locations, this latest development highlights its ability to support the client in international airport environments, where responsiveness, supply continuity, and effective customs management are also essential.

GEODIS takes a new step in supporting the logistics of retail outlets located in airport areas with the extension of its partnership with Lagardère Travel Retail, a global leader in travel retail. As part of this expansion GEODIS will manage warehousing, order preparation and delivery for new retail and Duty-Free boutiques.

The new operations cover two major international hubs: Heathrow airport in the Uk and Auckland airport in New Zealand.

At Heathrow airport, GEODIS will support the launch of the Travel Essentials business for Lagardère Travel Retail and will serve four RELAY shops located within the custom-controlled area, selling both essential travel items and souvenirs. A warehouse located within the airport zone will enable rapid response times and ensure a continuous supply of high-demand items.

At Auckland Airport, GEODIS will provide daily stock transfers six days a week to five Duty Free shops, with multiple delivery slots each day to meet high-volume business cycles. GEODIS will manage and optimize a complex assortment of over 13,000 SKUs, spanning categories such as alcohol, tobacco, fashion, packaged food, specialties, and perfumes & cosmetics, all under strict regulatory and customs compliance. All processes are supported by a robust WMS with real-time SAP integration, cycle counting, and inventory traceability, ensuring compliance with excise, VAT exemption, and New Zealand airport security requirements.

This extension of logistical management services for Lagardère Travel Retail outlets in international locations is a development of operations already carried out in Asia where GEODIS supports Lagardere’s retail business in Singapore at ferry terminals with a fully coordinated, end-to-end solution including bonded storage for wine and spirits, customs brokerage, freight forwarding, transportation and even shelf placement at the stores.

In France, GEODIS notably makes deliveries by electric vehicles to Relay stores at Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Paris-Orly airports, as well as in Paris train stations and at the Eiffel Tower.
