All-new Kicks launched in Japan

YOKOHAMA, Japan – WEBWIRE

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. announced the launch of the all-new Kicks in Japan, with sales starting on June 18.

The Kicks has earned strong customer support thanks to its SUV-like presence, refined exterior design, as well as the powerful and smooth acceleration and high level of quietness delivered by Nissan’s proprietary e‑POWER hybrid system.

The all-new Kicks now in its second generation evolves further as a compact SUV suited for both everyday driving and leisure activities. It features a bold and dynamic exterior design, a high-quality interior, and is now being offered with the third-generation e‑POWER system, which significantly improves fuel efficiency. In addition, the model introduces Nissan’s e‑4ORCE electric all-wheel control technology for the first time in the Kicks lineup.

Corporate executive responsible for Japan Marketing & Sales Akira Sugimoto commented: “Kicks is a core model for Nissan, and it plays an important role in delivering the value of electrification technologies to more customers; by introducing the third-generation e‑POWER for the first time in the Japanese market. This model reflects Nissan’s distinctive commitment to design, driving performance, and comfort, delivering a model that stimulates a touch of refined playfulness for discerning customers.”

Enhanced performance and quietness with third-generation e‑POWER and e‑4ORCE
The all-new Kicks features a completely updated powertrain, adopting a newly developed 5-in-1 e‑POWER electric powertrain unit for the first time in the Japanese market. This unit modularizes five core components — motor, generator, inverter, reducer, and increaser — delivering improved compactness, reduced weight, and increased rigidity. Combined with a 1.4-liter dedicated power-generation engine (HR14DDe), the entire powertrain achieves enhanced fuel efficiency and quietness.

The model is also equipped with Nissan’s e‑4ORCE electric-drive all-wheel control technology. By integrating high-torque motor output with brake control, the system delivers responsive cornering performance and a smooth, comfortable ride.

In addition, a high-rigidity body and newly designed suspension contribute to stable handling during cornering and reduced vibration over road surface abnormalities, ensuring a comfortable ride. A ‘Snow Mode’ (available on e‑4ORCE models) is also newly introduced, enabling confident driving across various conditions including snowy roads.

Bold and dynamic exterior with a clean, premium interior
The exterior design adopts a bold and advanced look, expressing a strong, athletic stance. The front fascia is inspired by an American football helmet, featuring a wide, horizontal grille accented by distinctive signature lighting.

On the top-grade G variant, exterior components such as the bumpers receive a premium gloss black finish. Meanwhile, the X, X+, and X Simple Package grades incorporate a distinctive dimple (polygon) pattern inspired by sneaker soles on the front bumper, side sills, and rear bumper, adding a playful touch of individuality. At the rear, a distinctive rectangular black graphic and full-width taillights emphasize the SUV’s strong presence.

The interior is designed to provide a modern, open, and comfortable space. Soft-touch materials such as synthetic leather and fabric are used on the instrument panel, center console, and door trims to enhance quality and tactile comfort. The cabin also offers class-leading knee room, headroom, and rear seat width. Zero gravity seats are adopted for both front and rear outboard seats, improving passenger comfort. In addition, a NissanConnect infotainment system with built-in Google * and a dual 12.3-inch integrated display interface (depending on grade) enhances both perceived quality and intuitive usability.

A new exterior color, ’Resonance Blue’, is introduced to express the advanced and clean nature of e‑POWER. It features a smooth, pure blue tone with clear, bright highlights. A total of nine body colors, including two-tone options, are now available for customers.

Expanded advanced safety technologies
Under Nissan’s 360° Safety Assist, ProPILOT continues to be standard across all grades. The Intelligent Around View Monitor now features Front Wide View, Invisible Hood View, and 3D View functions, helping visualize blind spots such as obstructed intersections and areas hidden by the hood, thereby supporting driver awareness and reducing stress.

The Intelligent Emergency Braking system has also been enhanced, improving detection of pedestrians, oncoming vehicles, and crossing traffic at intersections to help avoid collisions. In addition, Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention (I-BSI) and Blind Spot Warning (BSW), as well as Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), are newly adopted to further strengthen rear-side safety support.
