The 2026 Pirelli SCQ rear tyre makes its debut at Misano
The development specification known until last year as E0479 returns to action at Misano, where it made its debut in ‘25, this time as the new standard-range SCQ extrasoft tyre
· From development to standard range The Pirelli Emilia-Romagna Round, for which Pirelli is the Event Main Sponsor, and which takes place this weekend at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, marks the start of the second half of the season as round 7 of 12 on the 2026 FIM Superbike World Championship calendar. For the occasion, Pirelli will make available to all SBK riders the new standard-range SCQ extrasoft specification, the result of the development work carried out throughout 2025. This is a solution already well known and appreciated under its development code E0479, which made its first appearance at the Misano round last season before also being used at Balaton Park, Magny-Cours, Estoril and Jerez. The SCQ, the softest solution in the entire Pirelli range, retains the same compound as its predecessor but features an innovative carcass designed to improve stability and durability. It will be the reference tyre for the qualifying session and the Superpole Race, while also being available for use during free practice sessions.
· SCX or SC0 for the long races - Alongside the new SCQ, the two standard-range rear options designated for the longer races of the Pirelli Emilia-Romagna Round will be the supersoft SCX and soft SC0, two solutions that riders know very well and use regularly. At the front, the usual soft SC1 and medium SC2 standard-range options will be available. In wet conditions, the allocation is completed on both axles by DIABLO™ Wet intermediate tyres and DIABLO™ Rain wet-weather tyres.
· The other classes. The SCX supersoft and SC0 soft standard-range solutions also form part of the allocation for the WorldSSP Championship, where the soft SC1 and medium SC2 front options are likewise confirmed. The Italian race weekend programme is completed by the Sportbike World Championshi p and the WorldWCR Championship, both of which use Pirelli DIABLO™ Superbike tyres in SC1 compound at both the front and rear.
The SCQ completes the renewal of the rear tyre range
“For the Emilia-Romagna Round – a circuit we know extremely well, having hosted races for many years as well as numerous manufacturer tests throughout the season – we are bringing the new 2026 standard-range SCQ extrasoft as the designated Superpole rear tyre, a specification that until last year was known as the E0479 development solution. Introduced in the FIM Superbike World Championship at Misano last season and designed with an innovative carcass to deliver greater stability, a larger contact patch and improved performance consistency, the new standard-range SCQ follows the same development philosophy that led to the production versions of the current DIABLO™ Superbike SCX and SC0, both of which were development specifications in 2025.
The SCQ was the final piece needed to complete the renewal of our rear tyre range which, it is worth noting, is now also available for purchase by all riders through the Pirelli dealer network, both for racing use and for track-day activities.
In addition to assessing the behaviour of the SCQ, it will also be interesting to see how the SCX supersoft performs. After serving as the reference tyre for Superpole and the Superpole Race at Aragón, this weekend it could prove to be the most competitive option for the long races given the high temperatures expected”.
