Toyota Mobility Foundation, the City of Jyväskylä, and TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team have established Central Finland Mobility Foundation (“Cefmof”) and have been advancing activities aimed at achieving carbon neutrality and realizing a sustainable society.

We are pleased to share the recent announcement regarding the “Hydrogen House” development project being promoted by Cefmof.

The project is developing a residential-type demonstration environment that integrates hydrogen production, storage, electricity generation, heating, and everyday applications such as cooking into a single real-life environment. Through proof-of-concept (PoC) testing, the initiative seeks to accelerate the commercialization of hydrogen equipment, applications, and distribution systems. The Hydrogen House also provides a platform for developing, validating, and demonstrating hydrogen-related technologies, supporting their transition from research and development into practical use, while promoting awareness of the safe use of hydrogen in everyday settings and its role in future energy systems.

In addition, the project focuses on hydrogen-based seasonal energy storage and the development of off-grid energy solutions. By integrating solar power, battery systems, and hydrogen technologies into a hybrid energy management system, the project enables surplus renewable energy to be stored and later utilized for electricity generation, heating, and various end-use applications. The Hydrogen House will also demonstrate practical applications such as a hydrogen-powered oven and fuel-cell-based electricity generation with waste heat utilization.
