KB Equipment Rental Gives Back to Local Community Through New “Built Local” Scholarship Program
There are countless resources available for students pursuing the academic route, but students entering the trades or hoping to start their own businesses often don’t receive the same level of support. We wanted to help change that.
This month, Armstrong County-based KB Equipment Rental proudly gave back to the community by awarding four scholarships to local graduating seniors through the company’s newly established KB “Built Local” Scholarship Program.
Located just off Route 210 near Keystone Lake, KB Equipment Rental created the scholarship to support graduating seniors in Armstrong and Indiana counties pursuing careers in the skilled trades.
Owners Kyleigh and Brandan Reesman say the program reflects both their deep local roots and their commitment to investing in the hardworking people who help small-town communities thrive.
“We believe the trades are the future,” said the Reesmans. “There are countless resources available for students pursuing the academic route, but students entering the trades or hoping to start their own businesses often don’t receive the same level of support. We wanted to help change that.”
This month, KB proudly awarded its first-ever KB “Built Local” Scholarship to Ruthann Remaley, a Lenape Tech senior pursuing a career in welding, pictured alongside Kyleigh and Brandan Reesman. Three additional students were also recognized with Additional Merit Scholarship Awards, including Paul Flick of Lenape Tech, Brayden Myers of Apollo Ridge High School, and Brooklyn Redmond of Leechburg High School.
According to the Reesmans, narrowing down the recipients was incredibly difficult.
“We were genuinely impressed with every application we received,” they said. “Each student should be proud of themselves, their ambition, and their work ethic.”
Many of the essays focused not only on career goals, but also on service, community values, and giving back. One student wrote that “the trades are a skill, but a skill is nothing if you can’t use it to help your community.” Another shared that “success is not only about personal achievement, but also about lifting others up.”
KB Equipment Rental has quickly become known throughout the region for its community involvement, affordability, and transparent business practices. The company regularly donates to local first responder and veteran organizations, including volunteer fire departments such as Rural Valley and Dayton, while also sponsoring numerous community events and donating both funds and equipment to area organizations.
The Reesman family also proudly owns MBR Repair in Dayton, an automotive and heavy-duty repair facility voted the Leader Times’ “Best of the Best 2025.” The shop is widely recognized for its work with local volunteer fire departments and municipalities. Their business roots run even deeper through ML Reesman Trucking, a family company with roots dating back to 1966.
In addition to community support, KB Equipment Rental has built a strong reputation for affordable pricing and honest service. The company offers a permanent 10% discount to contractors, veterans, and first responders and rents a wide range of equipment, including skid steers, track loaders, mini excavators, aerial lifts, forestry mulchers, dump trailers, and more.
One example of KB’s pricing philosophy is its 75-horsepower Kubota SVL-75 tracked skid steer rental, which rents for $225 per day at KB, while comparable competitors in the area advertise the same model starting around $350 per day. The company has also earned numerous 5-star reviews across both Google and Facebook.
“Transparency matters to us,” the Reesmans said. “There are never hidden fees, and customers can view all of our rental rates and delivery fees publicly on our website at any time.”
KB Equipment Rental is BBB accredited and a proud member of the American Rental Association.
Brandan, a Dayton native and proud Lenape Tech graduate, and Kyleigh, who was raised in a blue-collar environment and has spent her career building businesses and helping rebuild communities, say they hope to continue growing the scholarship program for many years to come.
“Our area is filled with hardworking people who care deeply about their communities,” they said. “Many of us don’t have much, but we have one heck of a work ethic, and we love keeping small towns small. If we can help with that goal, we certainly will.”
Today, KB Equipment Rental continues serving the equipment rental needs of communities throughout the region, including Ford City, Vandergrift, Dayton, New Bethlehem, and surrounding areas.
The company hopes the KB “Built Local” Scholarship will inspire more local businesses to invest directly into students, skilled trades, and the future workforce of Western Pennsylvania.
