100% sold, Final Treasures from the Wine Cellar of Andrew Lloyd Webber has raised £517,910 for The Music in Secondary Schools Trust (MiSST). The sale attracted strong international participation from collectors, attracting registrants from 28 countries, and sparking global competitive bidding between clients from EMEA (59%), APAC (23%), and Americas (18%). The collection was 134% sold by value.
All proceeds are being donated to MiSST which administers Lloyd Webber’s Music in Schools Programme. It provides access to free instruments, weekly tuition and a classical music curriculum, and has supported nearly 30,000 students to date. These results enable a further 4,000 students to join the Programme, helping to extend MiSST’s mission of transforming the lives of disadvantaged students through music.
The highest price achieved was Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Romanée-Conti 2005 (3 bottles), raising £45,000, followed by Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, La Tâche 2005 (6 bottles), raising £40,000.
Adam Bilbey, SVP, Global Head of Wine and Spirits at Christie’s: “This sale delivered exceptional results for a cellar of outstanding provenance. Collectors responded strongly to the rarity and historical significance of the wines, with sustained bidding throughout the online sale. We are particularly proud that the proceeds (full hammer total) will support The Music in Secondary Schools Trust and its transformative work in music education.”
Andrew Lloyd Webber: “I am absolutely delighted that the sale of my wine cellar has raised over a half a million pounds for my music in schools programme. To date over 30,000 children have taken part in the project and the sale means that 4,000 additional kids will be able to join.
The beneficial power of music education in schools has long proved to be a no-brainer. Quite simply, music empowers young people. From academic achievement to solving social behaviour and mental health issues, the benefits to the whole community, not just the young students, are demonstrably proven. The Social Value Engine reports that for every £1 invested in the programme I sponsor, the social return is a massive £9.87.
Yet successive UK Governments persistently refuse to invest in a programme whose proven social and financial benefit to the nation is manifest. Vague platitudes get muttered, but platitudes are about all they amount to.
My programme gives each child a free musical instrument and a weekly music lesson. It is administered by the Music In Secondary Schools Trust whose expertise and dedication in this area is unrivalled.
Every child has the right to music education. It’s time for everyone to say enough is enough.”
Rachel Landon, MiSST CEO: “We are delighted by the incredible success of the auction and are continually amazed by Andrew Lloyd Webber’s kindness.
These funds will make a transformative difference for many children, enabling us to expand our reach and support even more young people. With a short-term target of supporting over 50,000 students by 2028 and a waiting list of over 140 schools, this support comes at a crucial time. It allows us to bring the Andrew Lloyd Webber Programme to more disadvantaged schools that have been eagerly waiting for this opportunity. On behalf of the communities we serve across the UK, thank you.”

About The Music in Secondary Schools Trust
The Music in Secondary Schools Trust (MiSST) is dedicated to transforming the lives of disadvantaged students through music. MiSST aims to close the achievement gap in music and across the wider curriculum by providing pupils in 37 disadvantaged secondary schools – all located in areas of significant deprivation – with musical instruments, weekly tuition, and a classical music curriculum known as The Andrew Lloyd Webber Programme.
In addition to its core curriculum, MiSST offers “Programmes of Excellence” to further support student development, including the MiSST Music Academy, Play Days, an annual concert, and intensive residential music courses. To date, MiSST has reached nearly 30,000 students, and its goal is to reach 50,000 by 2028.
MiSST has proven, through robust evaluation, that learning music powerfully empowers young people, leading to significant improvements in academic attainment, wellbeing, and behaviour. The programme is working, and its impact is clear and measurable. Using the Social Value Engine (SVE), the charity has quantified that for every £1 invested in the Andrew Lloyd Webber Programme, MiSST generates £9.87 in social value, demonstrating both its effectiveness and its far-reaching societal benefits.
About Andrew Lloyd Webbe r
Andrew Lloyd Webber has composed the scores of some of the world’s most famous musicals. His shows have run continuously in London’s West End for 50 years and ran for 43 uninterrupted years on Broadway.
When the original Sunset Boulevard joined School of Rock, CATS, and The Phantom of the Opera he equalled Rodgers & Hammerstein’s record of four shows running simultaneously on Broadway. He is one of the select group of artists with EGOT status, having received Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Awards.
In 2022, Andrew Lloyd Webber partnered with Michael Harrison to produce new productions of existing work and his future musicals.
Recently, CATS: The Jellicle Ball - a reimagined version of CATS inspired by New York’s ballroom culture - opened on Broadway and received nine nominations for the 2026 Tony Awards. Also in New York, Masquerade - the new immersive production of The Phantom of the Opera - won a Drama Desk Special Award for Excellence.
Lloyd Webber owns six London theatres including the iconic London Palladium and Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Reopened in July 2021, the latter was completely restored and renovated at a cost of over £60 million. This was one of the biggest projects ever undertaken by a private theatre owner in recent times. His mantra is that every penny of profit made from his theatres is ploughed back into the buildings for their conservation and development.
Lloyd Webber is passionate about the importance of musical education and diversity in the arts. Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation provides 30 performing arts scholarships every year for talented students with financial need, and supports a range of projects such as the Music In Secondary Schools Trust (MiSST).
In academic year September 2025 - 2026, 14,885 children are being given free musical tuition and instruments as part of MiSST’s Andrew Lloyd Webber Programme. The Foundation also commissions research into diversity in theatre.
Andrew Lloyd Webber has composed music for globally significant moments. Most recently, he was asked to compose “Make a Joyful Noise”, the anthem for the Coronation of King Charles III.
Andrew Lloyd Webber was knighted in 1992, created an honorary life peer in 1997, and made a Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter by King Charles III in 2024. Founded in 1348, this is the highest British civilian honour. Andrew Lloyd Webber is the only person from the arts in the Garter’s history granted this personal honour by the monarch.
