Wisdom Ventures, a leading early stage VC fund investing in tech-enabled wellbeing, today announced the close of its oversubscribed $77.7M Fund II. The new raise comes after the successful deployment of its $10 million Fund I. With the new fundraise, Wisdom Ventures will deepen its investment in startups building technologies that advance human resilience and wellbeing at scale.

“In an era where AI is reshaping every facet of our lives, Wisdom Ventures’ mission of ensuring humanity’s wellbeing is as important as ever,” said Katharina Neubert, SVP Strategy & Investments at Holtzbrinck, an LP in Wisdom Ventures.

Fund II to Accelerate Tech Enabled Well Being at Scale

Wisdom Ventures’ Fund II will invest in companies using AI to accelerate human flourishing across health, wellness, and human connection. The fund will deploy checks between $1 million and $5 million into approximately 40 mission-driven startups. Fund II’s limited partners include many of the world’s top technology leaders including Reid Hoffman (Founder of LinkedIn), Evan Sharp (Co-founder of Pinterest), Stewart Butterfield (Co-founder of Slack), and Jen Rubio (Co-founder of Away), and other top investors and founders passionate about the health and wellness space. Wisdom Ventures also brought on Dr. Vivek Murthy, a world renowned physician who served as the U.S. Surgeon General under Presidents Obama and Biden to advise on investments across health and wellness.

“The health and well-being challenges we face require more than traditional interventions - they demand a fundamental shift in how we build and interact with technology,” said Dr. Vivek Murthy, a Senior Venture Partner at Wisdom Ventures. “I am proud to join Wisdom Ventures to back founders who are designing the next generation of technology to foster genuine human connection, support physical and mental health, and cultivate long-term resilience.”

Fund I Proves VCs Can Do Well While Doing Good

Since closing in July 2022, Wisdom Ventures’ Fund I has rapidly ascended to the top quartile of early-stage funds, proving that mission-driven investing delivers elite returns. The 38-startup portfolio includes both major AI LLMs (OpenAI and Anthropic), and 14 markups. The fund also achieved Wisdom Ventures’ core commitment to inclusivity, with 74% of the portfolio having diverse race, gender, and sexual orientations among their founding teams. Beyond capital, Fund I pioneered a “whole-founder” support model, integrating meditation retreats and monthly community check-ins to ensure their leaders are as resilient as their balance sheets. Wisdom Ventures is continuing and expanding upon this model with Fund II.

“Building at the intersection of AI and health requires investors who understand that technology must be designed with human values at its core,” said Fidji Simo, Co-Founder of ChronicleBio. “The team at Wisdom is an invaluable partner, offering a rare combination of diverse, applicable expertise and a profound commitment to human flourishing.”

Wisdom Ventures Fund II is led by 3 General Partners whose combined expertise in product innovation, operational excellence, and community building uniquely positions them to achieve this mission. Bradley Horowitz, former VP of Product at Google, brings deep experience in investing, product innovation and strategy. Cecily Mak contributes legal and operational excellence and hands-on experience scaling startups. Soren Gordhamer, founder of the renowned Wisdom 2.0 conference, leverages an extensive global network and unparalleled expertise in building communities around mindfulness, resilience, and compassionate technology. The firm is also supported by Zoë Rogers (Operating Partner), Jack Kornfield (Venture Partner), Ruchika Sikri (Venture Partner), and Diego Perez (Venture Partner).
