Henkel expands beyond liquid adhesives and unleashes AI-driven battery innovation at the Battery Show Europe 2026

At ‘The Battery Show Europe 2026’ (June 9-11, Messe Stuttgart, Germany), Henkel will showcase how it is evolving EV battery development – expanding beyond liquid adhesives into a broader portfolio of high-performance bonding solutions.

A key highlight is the introduction of Loctite Specialty Tapes, adding high-performance, water-based specialty tape technologies to Henkel’s offering and enabling new approaches to battery design and assembly. Combined with digital innovation such as AI-powered adhesive simulation, they demonstrate how Henkel’s technologies can address performance, safety and sustainability in parallel – enabling faster, more efficient battery innovation.

Virtual battery adhesives – accelerating development with AI
Henkel’s Loctite Solve platform brings AI into early-stage battery design. Engineers can generate and simulate virtual adhesive formulations – existing or entirely new – thereby reducing reliance on physical prototyping and shortening development cycles. By creating digital twins of adhesives, manufacturers can evaluate performance earlier and make more informed, data-driven design decisions.

Lightweight battery solutions – reducing weight, increasing efficiency
Henkel’s adhesive solutions support the transition to lightweight battery architectures, including the use of thermoplastic substrates. These solutions enable meaningful weight reductions while maintaining structural integrity, thermal performance and safety – contributing to improved energy efficiency and vehicle range.

Functional coatings – enhancing performance and cost efficiency
Henkel’s precision-applied Bonderite coatings improve dielectric strength, thermal resistance and durability in battery and power electronics components. Debonding-on-demand – enabling battery circularity
Henkel’s debonding-on-demand technologies support repairability, reuse and recycling by enabling battery components to be separated safely and non-destructively when required. At the show, Henkel will demonstrate thermally triggered debonding solutions that can be integrated into battery design to support circular economy models.

Henkel will further explore this topic during an expert session led by Elizaveta Kessler, titled “Technical requirements and design considerations for debonding in Cell-to-Pack EV battery systems”.

These include water-based, low-VOC technologies designed to meet growing sustainability and performance requirements across battery applications.

They enable fast, clean and consistent application, helping manufacturers streamline production, reduce complexity and scale efficiently while supporting more flexible and efficient battery designs.
