  • After a disappointing result in Imola, Team Peugeot TotalEnergies is aiming to bounce back at the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps

  • Raidillon, Eau Rouge, Kemmel, Pouhon, Blanchimont, La Source… Team Peugeot TotalEnergies drivers are always eager to take on this iconic circuit and are more motivated than ever

  • The second-longest and second-fastest circuit of the FIA WEC season, Spa-Francorchamps is the ideal venue to prepare for the 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 13–14)

After showing encouraging potential in qualifying in Imola, Team Peugeot TotalEnergies, its drivers and the entire team head to the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps with the ambition of confirming this progress in race conditions, in what will be the final rehearsal ahead of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

An iconic and highly appreciated circuit among drivers, Spa-Francorchamps provides a demanding environment that rewards commitment and performance. It is the second-longest and second-fastest track on the FIA World Endurance Championship calendar, behind only the Le Mans 24 Hours circuit. Last year, Stoffel Vandoorne completed the 7.004 km lap at an average speed of 209.7 km/h in the #94, while Paul Di Resta was clocked at 318.7 km/h in the #93 in terms of top speed.

For Team Peugeot TotalEnergies, the challenge will be to extract the full potential of the PEUGEOT 9X8 and the new 2026 tyre range. With still limited experience, the team will need to further refine its understanding of the new compounds on a circuit that is very different from Imola.

Weather conditions, often unpredictable in the Belgian Ardennes, could also play a decisive role. Changing conditions require constant adaptability, both strategically and behind the wheel, as well as precise tyre management between slick and wet-weather tyres.

The French squad approaches this second round of the season with determination, building on a disciplined working approach following the opening round in Imola, which provided a clearer picture of the overall performance level of the Hypercar field. The objective is to confirm the promising pace shown by the PEUGEOT 9X8 in qualifying in Italy, while continuing preparations for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Meanwhile, all six Team Peugeot TotalEnergies drivers are looking forward to taking on the challenge of the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit.

The PEUGEOT 9X8 #93 (Di Resta/Vandoorne/Cassidy) and #94 (Duval/Jakobsen/Pourchaire) will hit the track at the top of Raidillon on Thursday, May 7 for Free Practice. Qualifying and Hyperpole are scheduled for Friday, May 8, while the 2026 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps will get underway on Saturday at 14:00 local time.

Emmanuel Esnault, Team Principal

“Imola gave us a clearer picture of where we stand in terms of performance compared to our competitors. We are also continuing our work to better understand the 2026 tyre compounds, and we arrive at Spa-Francorchamps fully focused. It is a fast and demanding circuit that seems to suit the intrinsic characteristics of our car and is very much appreciated by our drivers. Weather conditions could play a key role over the weekend and influence the outcome of the race.”

Stoffel Vandoorne (PEUGEOT 9X8 #93)

“For me, the Spa-Francorchamps round is always very special. I’m racing at home, with friends and family around, and a lot of fans coming to see me. Every year, the grandstands get more and more crowded. It’s also my favourite circuit. Driving Hypercars here is pure enjoyment, especially through the ‘Toboggan’. Last year, we were quite competitive at Spa, with strong qualifying – P4 for me – and a solid start to the race. Unfortunately, we made a few mistakes. This year, I hope we can deliver and show our true potential ahead of Le Mans.”

Malthe Jakobsen (PEUGEOT 9X8 #94)

“Imola is behind us and we need to move forward and keep working, especially on the new tyres and their operating window. All the other teams are progressing as well, so we cannot afford to ease off. Spa-Francorchamps is one of the most iconic circuits on the calendar, and the sensations in the PEUGEOT 9X8 through Raidillon are incredible. It’s a fast and long circuit that helps us prepare for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.”
