Barclays appoints Kensuke Nakatsuka as Head of M&A Advisory for Japan Investment Banking
Appointment strengthens Barclays’ Japan and global investment banking franchise
Brings deep M&A expertise and extensive cross-border experience
Barclays Securities Japan Limited today announces the appointment of Kensuke Nakatsuka as Head of M&A Advisory for Japan Investment Banking (IBK). In this role, Nakatsuka will lead the Japan M&A Advisory team in advising clients on public and private mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, spin‑offs and other strategic transactions. He will be based in Tokyo, and report to Yuzo Otsuka, Head of IBK, Japan, and Ee-Ching Tay, Head of M&A, Asia Pacific.
Nakatsuka will work closely with the coverage and capital markets teams, as well as the bank’s global M&A team, to support Japanese and international clients on their M&A ambitions, further advancing the business’ global priorities.
Nakatsuka joins Barclays with over 20 years of M&A advisory experience. Most recently, he was Deputy Head of Japan, Partner and Managing Director at Lincoln International. Prior to that, he held senior leadership roles at Citigroup and Credit Suisse Securities across Tokyo and London. Nakatsuka has previously led marquee transactions involving Japanese and global corporates and sponsors.
Yuzo Otsuka, Head of IBK, Japan, commented: “Nakatsuka’s appointment further strengthens Barclays’ Investment Banking franchise in Japan. I am confident his leadership and deep sectoral expertise will elevate our M&A advisory team, and I look forward to working with him as we support clients on complex M&A transactions.”
Ee-Ching Tay, Head of M&A, Asia Pacific, added: “Japan is a core market for our M&A franchise. Nakatsuka’s addition further enhances our ability to support Japanese clients and sponsors as they pursue strategic transactions.”
