Debut Novelist T.D. Flenaugh Brings Alaska to Los Angeles: Book Signing for “Little Mobile Home on the Tundra” at the 2026 L.A. Times Festival of Books
A coming-of-age story of a young Black girl in Alaska—and the generational patterns she dares to name, confront, and change.
“T.D. Flenaugh is so good at getting into that young girl POV—to capture what you feel, HOW it feels, and that time. So much of that little girl was like me, and then to read what her home life was like—how she’s connecting that trauma back generationally—how it’s so not like me, and still so emotionally connecting. That’s a real talent.” — Industry Reader
National Board Certified educator, podcast host, and author T.D. Flenaugh will sign copies of her debut novel, “Little Mobile Home on the Tundra: Interrupting Generational Dysfunction,” at the 2026 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books. The signing takes place April 18–19 from 2:00–3:30 PM at Booth 225, University of Southern California, organized by ReadersMagnet, a powerhouse marketing company.
Set against the vast Alaskan landscape of the 1990s, “Little Mobile Home on the Tundra” follows Tawny—a perceptive young Black girl navigating a childhood shaped by poverty, parental absence, and emotional silence. Flenaugh places the reader inside Tawny’s experience with rare precision: not just what she witnesses, but how it feels to be her. Amid hardship, there is tenderness, intellectual curiosity, and the quiet insistence of hope.
This is a novel about what gets passed down—silence, harm, belief—and the courage it takes to say: this stops with me. Essential reading for young adults, literary fiction readers, book clubs, educators, and therapists.
T.D. Flenaugh is a National Board Certified educator with more than two decades of classroom experience.
