Restorative Retreat: Six Senses Brings its Vision of Reconnection to Beijing’s Historic Three Hills and Five Gardens Cultural Area

Bangkok, Thailand – WEBWIRE

Six Senses announces the signing of Six Senses Beijing, which will open in the Haidian District of China’s capital. The hotel management agreement with Beijing Zhongguancun Avenue Construction & Development Group forms part of the thoughtful renewal of Liulangzhuang, now emerging as a center for cultural programming and international exchange. Within it, the Three Hills and Five Gardens heritage landscape is long associated with the Summer Palace and the imperial retreats of the Qing dynasty.

Neil Palmer, Chief Operating Officer, Six Senses, said: “Six Senses has always sought destinations with a strong story. The setting for Six Senses Beijing is extraordinary. The Three Hills and Five Gardens area has deep cultural and historical significance, and we are honored to be part of Liulangzhuang’s revival. Together with our partners, we look forward to creating an urban retreat where guests can connect with the spirit of Beijing in a way that feels intrinsically Six Senses, both restorative and regenerative.”

Six Senses Beijing will be the brand’s second property in Greater China, alongside Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain. Whether in remote locations or vibrant cities such as Rome, Kyoto, and London, Six Senses is broadening its global presence while preserving the distinctive essence that helps guests reconnect with themselves, others, and the world around them.

Cheng Yue, Chairman of Beijing Haidian Urban Renewal Development Co., Ltd., added: “Six Senses Beijing reflects a shared commitment from all partners to deliver a project of extraordinary quality, with a deep commitment to wellness and sustainability throughout. From design through to construction, a seamless journey from vision to operation will draw on the strengths of the Six Senses brand to shape a destination of enduring value for Beijing.”

Renewal in Every Sense

Beijing is a city of layers. Within this setting, Six Senses Beijing will rise from land once occupied by imperial rice paddies that supplied the royal court. Waterways and lotus ponds will shape the terrain, echoing the rhythm of village life while restoring elements of the land’s original character. The approach reflects the brand’s regenerative ethos, which looks beyond sustainability to leave a positive impact on local ecosystems and communities.

The 75 guest rooms and suites, featuring between one and four bedrooms, will reinterpret traditional siheyuan homes, combining historic architectural design with a contemporary expression of courtyard living. Interiors continue the theme to create a calm, nature-led sanctuary. Some exteriors will open onto private gardens and boat jetties, while others will share sheltered courtyards screened by magnolia trees. Hutong-style pathways will weave between buildings, which will be positioned across two connected sites.

Waterside Dining and Gathering Pavilions

A boat pier will connect the arrival lobby and lounge with the resort amenities, many of which will sit directly on the water. Light-filled pavilions set the stage for dining, where historic motifs meet contemporary lines. One extraordinary two-story residence spans two floors and offers the space and flexibility to host private events, with access either by boat or private drive.

Where the Body Stills

Wellness at Six Senses meets guests where they are and supports them however deep they want to go, from high-touch spa treatments to more intentional multi-day programs. Signature programs including personalized wellness screenings, biohacking experiences, and Sleep With Six Senses will be offered, shaping each stay through a blend of science, intuition, and ancient wisdom. The approach responds naturally to the rhythm of the guest’s visit, creating space to slow down and restore balance.

Where the Leaves Settle

Other mainstays of the Six Senses hospitality approach will also feature, including the Earth Lab and the Alchemy Bar. The Earth Lab will gather guests and locals for hands-on workshops focused on sustainable living, while the Alchemy Bar introduces the healing power of plants within a tactile environment where guests mix their own botanical scrubs and potions for their spa treatment.
