New York hosts help direct $150K to local housing nonprofits

WEBWIRE

Key Takeaways

  • Airbnb hosts across New York nominated three nonprofits in Albany, Hudson Valley, and New York City to receive $150K to combat homelessness, stabilize homeownership, and expand access to housing.

  • As part of the commitment, host and community members will volunteer with these organizations locally, including a furniture building volunteer event and food drive in Albany and a build day in New York City.

  • This investment builds on more than $3M Airbnb has contributed to community organizations across New York last year, supporting nonprofits working to address housing insecurity and strengthen communities statewide.

Today, Airbnb announced that three New York housing nonprofits will receive $150,000 from the Airbnb Community Fund. These organizations are working to combat homelessness, stabilize homeownership, and expand access to housing across the New York State Capital Region, Hudson Valley, and New York City.

Nominated by the Airbnb host community, these contributions are part of our broader commitment to supporting communities across New York and build on more than $3 million the company has contributed to nonprofits statewide in 2025.

“Short-term rental hosts in the Albany area care deeply about the communities where we live and welcome guests. We’re proud to support organizations like the Homeless and Travelers Aid Society that are doing the hard, daily work of helping families find stability and safe housing. This investment reflects hosts’ commitment to strengthening our communities and expanding opportunity across the Capital Region.”

Michelle Toch Dinsmore, Albany Host Club Leader

Each of the three nonprofit recipients will receive an equal portion of the funding and was nominated by local hosts to support causes that matter most to their communities. Each year, Airbnb partners with our host community to identify key issues and the nonprofit organizations that receive funding from the Community Fund. In New York, this year’s organizations include:

  • Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh
    • Works to expand access to safe, affordable housing by helping individuals and families achieve first-time homeownership through the construction and rehabilitation of homes.

  • Rebuilding Together NYC
    • Empowers low-income residents of New York City through the preservation of affordable housing and the development of life-sustaining careers in construction trades.

In the coming months, hosts will continue to support these efforts through volunteer activities with Homeless and Travelers Aid Society, Rebuilding Together NYC, and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh—including a “build a bed” event in Albany and a homebuilding day in New York City this summer—in collaboration with nonprofit partners and community members.

“This funding will help us continue providing critical services that support individuals and families as they move from homelessness into stable housing. Partnerships like this allow us to meet people where they are and ensure they have the resources and support needed to successfully transition into stable, healthy homes.”

Liz Hitt, Homeless and Travelers Aid Society Executive Director

“At Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh, we believe everyone deserves a safe and affordable place to call home. Support from the Airbnb Community Fund helps us build and preserve homes for hardworking families in our community and strengthens our ability to create long-term housing solutions.”

Jessica Miuccio, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh Executive Director

“This generous investment will help us continue repairing and preserving homes for the New Yorkers who need it most. By supporting affordable housing preservation and workforce development in the skilled trades, this partnership helps ensure our communities remain safe, stable, and resilient.”

Valerie Payne, Rebuilding Together NYC Executive Director

“As hosts, we see firsthand how strong communities make places thrive. Supporting organizations that help residents secure stable housing and build better futures was a priority for our host club. We’re grateful that the Airbnb Community Fund is helping amplify the impact of groups working on the frontlines of housing and community support.”

Abbe Green, Hudson Valley Host Club Leader

“In New York City, we care deeply about the strength and resilience of the neighborhoods that make this city so special. Organizations like Rebuilding Together NYC are doing essential work to preserve affordable housing and support residents who might otherwise be pushed out of their communities. We’re proud that the Airbnb Community Fund allows hosts to give back locally and support efforts that help keep New Yorkers safely and stably housed.”

Jeff Adise, New York City Host Club Leader

“Airbnb was founded on the idea of community, and that begins with stable housing. Through the Community Fund, our hosts help guide where we give, ensuring support reaches organizations creating real impact locally. We’re proud to partner with groups in the Capital Region, Hudson Valley, and New York City that are expanding access to housing, helping families transition into permanent homes, and strengthening their neighborhoods.”
