Dongfeng Nissan Launches the All-New NX8 in China
This release is an edited translation of the announcement made by Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company in China.
Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company (DFN), the Chinese joint venture of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.; Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan; President and CEO: Ivan Espinosa), announced the launch of the all-new NX8, a mid-size electrified SUV developed for the Chinese market. Sales commenced on the same day.
Following the N6 plug-in hybrid sedan and the N7 mid-size electric sedan, the NX8 marks the third model in Nissan’s N Series. Developed under the concept of “an ideal SUV for every family,” the NX8 offers a high level of comfort, advanced technology and safety performance, with 71 convenience, comfort and safety features equipped as standard across all grades, positioned in a price range from approximately 15.99 yuan to 20.99 yuan.
The key features of the all-new NX8 are as follows:
Two Powertrain Options: Battery Electric Vehicle and Range-Extended EV
To meet the diverse needs of the Chinese market, the NX8 is available with two powertrain options: a battery electric vehicle (EV) and a range-extended electric vehicle (REEV).
The EV lineup consists of three grades—580 Pro, 580 Max and 650 Max — offering a maximum driving range of up to 650 km *1. Equipped with an 800V architecture and ultra-fast 5C charging capability, the EV can recover approximately 300 km of driving range in just six minutes, significantly reducing range anxiety.
The REEV lineup includes three grades—150 Pro, 150 Max and 310 Max. The REEV delivers up to 310 km *1 of EV-only driving range and a total driving range of up to 1,450 km. Fuel consumption during gasoline operation is rated at 4.51 liters per 100 km (approximately 22.17 km per liter), providing both long-distance capability and high efficiency.
Enhanced Comfort for All Passengers
The NX8 is designed to deliver a comfortable in-vehicle experience for all passengers under the philosophy that “every seat is the main seat.” The vehicle features a large 773-liter luggage compartment capable of accommodating up to 35 suitcases, as well as a bi-directional onboard refrigerator that can be set from -6°C to 55°C.
With best-in-class rear-seat headroom of 1,285 mm, the NX8 provides ample space for children to stand and change clothes, enhancing convenience for families. The vehicle also offers a “Pet Protection Mode,” which helps maintain appropriate cabin temperature, prevents accidental operations, and alerts the driver if a pet is left inside the vehicle.
Representative comfort features include *2:
- AI Zero Gravity Seat 2.0 with 25 massage and support airbags
- AI contactless airflow control system
- Motion sickness prevention technology 3.0
- Power-reclining rear seats with ventilation, heating and massage functions
- Onboard refrigerator/freezer (-6°C to 55°C)
Advanced Infotainment and Intelligent Technologies
The NX8 is equipped with a range of advanced infotainment and intelligent features, including dual 15.6-inch large displays and the latest Nissan OS 2.0. An automatic parking assist function supports drivers in parallel parking and maneuvering in tight spaces.
Key features include *2:
- Dual 15.6-inch displays
- Nissan OS 2.0
- AI voice assistant
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chipset with 256 GB storage
- Augmented reality head-up display (AR-HUD) equivalent to approximately 63 inches
High-Level Safety Performance
As electrified vehicles continue to gain popularity, safety has been a key focus in the development of the NX8. The vehicle employs multi-layered safety measures, from the battery system to the overall vehicle structure.
The NX8 features the Cloud Shield Battery 2.0, using high-quality CATL battery cells and tested against 146 safety criteria. In addition, 24-hour cloud-based monitoring enhances peace of mind in daily use and during long-distance driving.
The vehicle combines a driver assistance system jointly developed with Momenta and an AR-HUD with an equivalent display size of approximately 63 inches, helping reduce driver workload and support safe, comfortable driving over long distances.
Furthermore, the NX8 adopts a steel-aluminum hybrid body structure incorporating 2,000 MPa-class ultra-high-strength steel to ensure high crash safety performance. The rear combination lamps, utilizing the world’s highest number of OLED lighting units, enhances visibility and driver confidence.
Sales of the battery electric (EV) models of the NX8 began on April 8, while deliveries of the range-extended (REEV) models are scheduled to start sequentially from mid-to-late May.
