Viasat Opens Guam Office to Enhance Ground Infrastructure Sustainment Services

Viasat’s expanded presence on the island will support full lifecycle sustainment of ground antennas for government and commercial customers

CARLSBAD, Calif. – WEBWIRE

Viasat Inc., a global leader in satellite communications (SATCOM), today announced it has opened a new office in Guam that will provide onsite ground infrastructure services and maintenance services for government and commercial customers operating in the Indo-Pacific region.

By expanding its local presence on the island, Viasat is addressing a critical need for reliable, in-region aftermarket support and will offer rapid, localized support for critical satellite ground antenna systems. Viasat’s ground support services will help customers by significantly reducing the time, resources, and costs associated with maintaining and servicing antennas and ground station sites in the region.

The new facility features warehouse space and planned future lab capabilities, enabling local storage, servicing, and repair operations. Viasat’s Antenna Systems team, within the Defense and Advanced Technologies (DAT) segment, will support various services including preventative and corrective maintenance, 24/7 emergency response, sustainment engineering, obsolescence mitigation, and cybersecurity compliance support. Customers will benefit from having Viasat’s experienced engineers and technicians ready to assist with the full lifecycle sustainment of ground antenna systems.

“Having Viasat engineers and technicians stationed on Guam increases our capacity for providing complex, timely, cost-effective support to our mission partners in region while enhancing our position as a global leader in the ground systems market,” said Kent Leka, Vice President and General Manager of Antenna Systems at Viasat. “These ground maintenance services can directly enhance mission availability, reduce lifecycle cost, and ensure systems remain secure, interoperable, and fully aligned with evolving requirements and threats.”

By sustaining critical ground antenna infrastructure in the region, Viasat will help military and commercial customers maintain and deliver assured, resilient SATCOM and Telemetry, Tracking and Command (TT&C) capabilities, supporting distributed operations, rapid global response, and command-and-control superiority. This expanded presence on Guam will enable Viasat to expand services and support for current and potential customers, offering a higher level of responsiveness and optimization for ground station maintenance and sustainment services.
