The Science Museum’s Space shop is one of only a few places in the UK where the public can purchase new, out-of-this-world Jellies. Renowned for their much-loved cuddly designs, the London-based collectible brand, Jellycat, has released ten new cosmic characters including Amuseables Planet Mars, Space Comet and Amuseables Jellysaucer, as well as reimagined space-inspired versions of fan-favourite characters like Amuseables Peanut, Happy Boiled Egg and Zodihop Luxe Bunny.

Visitors can book timed entry slots to explore the full range in the Science Museum’s Space shop. The Jellycat range will also be available through the museum’s online shop from 14 April. Purchases are limited to a maximum of two of each character.

New Shepard Spacecraft Replica

Making the Modern World gallery, Level 0, Free

Discover a full-scale replica of the Blue Origin New Shepard spacecraft in the Science Museum’s Making the Modern World gallery. Visitors can peer through some of the largest windows on a spacecraft and imagine what it might be like to travel inside the capsule, which was designed for suborbital spaceflight, for both crew and research payloads. New Shepard is a fully reusable spacecraft system that first launched in 2015 and has carried 98 people into space, including pioneering aviator Wally Funk, Star Trek actor William Shatner and pop star Katy Perry. The spacecraft is named after Alan Shepard, the first American astronaut to fly to space in 1961.

Ryugu Asteroid Sample

From Monday 23 March

See a 4.6-billion-year-old piece of asteroid in the Science Museum’s Space gallery. Older than planet Earth, this extraordinary grain-sized sample was collected from the asteroid Ryugu by the Japanese Space Agency’s Hayabusa2 spacecraft.

The robotic spacecraft travelled 6 billion km to reach the asteroid and return the sample to Earth, which can now be viewed up close at the museum. Visitors can also discover how this tiny piece of the Solar System tells us more about the origins of life on our own planet.
