Edwards, Gilgeous-Alexander Named Keg Size Players of the Week

Aaliyah Edwards and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander have been named Keg Size Players of the Week for Mar. 9-15.

Edwards capped off a strong tournament run for Canada at the FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament in Istanbul, earning All-Star Five honours after averaging 12.6 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, tied for the top rebounding mark in the entire tournament. The Kingston, ON native delivered a standout performance against Japan, recording 22 points and 15 rebounds, and continued to make her presence felt on both ends throughout the competition. Edwards most recently represented Canada with the Senior Women’s National Team in Istanbul.

Gilgeous-Alexander headlines the week after surpassing Wilt Chamberlain’s record for most consecutive games with 20 or more points, setting a new mark with 127 straight games and counting. The Hamilton, ON native also put together a dominant week statistically, averaging 30 points, six rebounds, and 11 assists while leading the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 3-0 record and extending the team’s winning streak to eight games. Gilgeous-Alexander last represented Canada at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with the Senior Men’s National Team.
