Biman Roy’s Lyrical Poetry Collection “Navigating the Quartz Forest” to Be Featured at the London Book Fair

Returning to the London Book Fair for its third year, The Maple Staple Bookstore will showcase “Navigating the Quartz Forest,” a contemporary poetry collection by Biman Roy, at Stand 6A100. The collection offers an intimate and imaginative exploration of language, memory, and familial connection through a distinctive blend of poetry and visual fragments.

Inspired by his daughter, Sumona Roy, “Navigating the Quartz Forest” pairs each poem with her small handwritten notes, brief scribbles on blue-lined paper that reveal glimpses of her life beyond the family home. These casual fragments of conversation and pop-culture references become the foundation for Roy’s poems, which expand them into reflections full of humor, imagination, and heart.

The collection creates a quiet dialogue between father and daughter, turning ordinary notes into moments of connection and insight. Through this interplay, Roy captures the tenderness, curiosity, and small joys of family life, offering a heartfelt tribute to both the spoken and the unspoken.

Biman Roy has been writing poetry for more than three decades and has been widely published, with work nominated for the Best of the Net and the Pushcart Prize. He is the author of “Of Moon and Washing Machine,” “Dinosaur Hour,” and “Miss Manhattan”. A psychiatrist by profession, Roy serves as a hospital consultant in New York City and lives in Ridgewood, bringing a nuanced understanding of inner lives to his poetic voice.
