Big Play Slay is walking away.

Six-time Pro Bowl cornerback Darius Slay announced his retirement on Monday after 13 NFL seasons.

A second-round pick by the Detroit Lions out of Mississippi State in 2013, Slay became known for making big, game-changing plays in his prime. The corner was named a first-team All-Pro in 2017, leading the NFL with eight interceptions and 26 passes defended.

A sticky cover man, Slay used his 6-foot frame and physical style to bully receivers. The corner had excellent ball instincts, allowing him to earn 28 career interceptions and 162 passes defended. He also scored five defensive touchdowns -- three pick-sixes, two fumbles recovered for scores.

After seven years with the Lions, Slay was traded to Philadelphia in 2020 after a falling out with then-Detroit coach Matt Patricia. Slay helped the Eagles to the Super Bowl in 2022 and won himself a ring with Philly in 2024.

The Eagles waived the corner last March, and he signed a one-year contract with the Steelers. He appeared in 10 games for Pittsburgh, earned three passes defended, a fumble recovery and 36 tackles. The Steelers waived him in December, and he was claimed by the Bills. However, he did not report to Buffalo, telling the club he was considering retirement.

Now, the 35-year-old makes it official.
