For more than 20 years, Tim Hortons has been celebrating and encouraging local youth to pursue educational growth through the Tim Hortons Scholarship Program. This corporate-led initiative has awarded millions of dollars in scholarships to team members, or the children or grandchildren of team members.

To make an even bigger impact this year, Tims is more than doubling the value of the Scholarship Program to $500,000, which will be awarded to 500 candidates to help support their post-secondary studies.

Funded by Tim Hortons and supported by restaurant owners, the national program reflects the brand’s ongoing commitment to helping teenagers and youth build skills and confidence that last a lifetime.

Young people are an integral part of restaurant teams – with those aged 15 to 24 representing about 47% of team members, many of whom are pursuing post-secondary education while working at Tims. The scholarship is an added boost to help support their post-secondary pursuits and help you attract and retain great team members.

“At Tim Hortons, we’re incredibly proud of the young Canadians who choose to start their careers with us. They bring energy, creativity, and a strong sense of community to our restaurants every day. Programs like our scholarship initiative are our way of saying thank you – for their hard work, their commitment to learning, and the positive impact they make both in our restaurants and beyond,” says Naira Saeed, Chief Operating Officer of Tim Hortons.

Tims restaurant owner Christy Breed has had more than 15 team members benefit from the Tim Hortons Scholarship Program over the years and says she is always thrilled to celebrate each one.

“Beyond the financial support, this program gives us the opportunity to honour the accomplishments of our great team members and how their serve our communities. We all enjoy cheering them on as they build their future,” says Breed.

We asked some recent scholarship recipients to share what the award means to them:
