Hilde Tonne, director in Hydro Oil & Energy, has accepted a position as new Executive Vice President, responsible for Communications in Telenor. Following Hilde Tonne’s appointment, the Group Executive Management will expand from eight to nine members. Tonne will take up her new position on 1 September this year.

Hilde Tonne is 41 years old and is educated at the Norwegian Institute of Technology (NTH) and RWTH Aachen, Germany. She is currently Head of Technology & Research in Hydro Oil & Energy.

During the years from 1991 to 1999 Tonne held various positions at Saga Petroleum. Over the last seven years she has served in various managerial positions in Hydro - including the position as Head of Communication, Hydro Oil & Energy.

“I am very pleased that we have recruited Tonne to Telenor. She has key experience as a leader, including on international business growth with challenges that have clear parallels to Telenor’s,” said President and CEO at Telenor, Jon Fredrik Baksaas.

“I was at a point where it was natural for me to look into new options,” said Hilde Tonne. “This gives me an opportunity to join the top management of one of Norway’s most interesting and international companies, and I am looking forward to take up my new responsibilities.”

Hilde Tonne succeeds Anne-Sissel Skånvik, who will take up a new managerial position at Telenor ASA. Skånvik will head the Group’s new unit for Governmental Relations. This unit will report directly to the CEO, and will be responsible for Telenor’s relations with public authorities. Skånvik will hold the position as Head of Communications until Tonne takes up her new responsibilities on 1 September.
