The public call for the position of director of the San Sebastián Festival to open today

The Executive Board of the San Sebastián Festival, made up of the San Sebastián City Council, the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, the Basque Government and the Spanish Government’s Ministry of Culture, announce the public call for the position of director of the film festival, to open today, on Wednesday 4 March.

The company of human resources consultants specialising in recruitment and headhunting, Batea, will manage the process to select a replacement for the current director, who will leave the position on 31 December 2026. The conditions specify that the applicant must have a university degree, a high level of English, and the ability to communicate in both the Basque and the Spanish languages; knowledge of French will be an advantage. The candidate must have professional experience in the management of benchmark audiovisual and creative companies, and particularly film festivals. They must also have skills such as a flair for leadership, team management, negotiation and communication, as well as knowledge of financial and budgetary matters.

Applicants are invited to submit their curriculum vitae together with a letter of presentation no longer than two pages explaining their reasons for applying for the position, their strategic vision and what they can contribute to the project. The applications, which must be submitted online through the Batea website.

The fully detailed announcement of the call for the position will be published in the Official Gazette of Gipuzkoa, the Official Gazette of the Basque Country and the Official State Gazette of Spain. It will also be posted on the Festival’s transparency portal.
